FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading and learning so I can stay up to speed on the latest fitness research. New knowledge, equipment, and techniques are always being generated and tested, and it's important to stay current so I can deliver the best possible training programs to my clients.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I spent a lot of years in formal education studying anthropology, sociology, and communications until I got reeeeeelly tired of being cooped up in an office all the time! I didn't feel like I was making the difference I wanted to make, so I returned to my true passion: FITNESS! I'm grateful for the path I took because I know that the knowledge and skills I gained along the way have made me much better able to find the ideal formula for each client's unique needs and goals.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I think the most important factor is personality. It takes courage to work with a trainer, and a willingness to be vulnerable. Trust is critical--not just in terms of knowledge, certifications, and skills--but also in terms of knowing that your weaknesses will be honored even though your limits will be tested. I think the trainer-client relationship is really special, and finding a person you genuinely like is priority #1.
