Introduction: **COVID-19 UPDATE: Virtual lessons (Zoom, Google Hangouts) are strongly preferred. If in-person lessons are a must, masks and 6 feet of distance will be required at all times (unless you’re also vaccinated)** I offer guitar lessons customized for each student’s learning style and musical preference. I emphasize learning many songs, developing good technique for good tone, and fostering a strong foundation of playing in time. This prepares students for playing in a band setting or as a solo performer. Additionally, I strive to give students the tools to pursue their own creative voice. Learning to play the guitar and starting off on a good path to musicianship is made easy with my instruction and guidance. I also offer lessons in bass guitar, ukulele, and music production.

Starting off playing guitar with Jake was such a joy! Each jam session was filled with fun, while still being helpful and full of learning! Jake is responsive, always answering questions and demonstrating afterwards! Very fun lessons that I will never forget!

Jake is an excellent guitar teacher, virtual or not. He is talented, flexible, and passionate. He is willing to develop lesson plans based on your interests and assigns homework loads based on your free time and preferences. Any person studying guitar would be lucky to have Jake as a teacher.

Jake has been my guitar teacher for a couple months now! And I’ve grown significantly! I was always a open chord player! And I wanted more juice to bring my songs to life! Jake brought more then just that! He exceeded my expectations! He’s kind, patient and my god way to much knowledge in that guy! And it has been so useful! Give this cat a call! He will make you feel right at home if your a beginner!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Solo Performances (Instrumental Electric/Acoustic Guitar + Sound Equipment) 1 hr - $150 2 hr - $300 Travel Fees 15 miles - $20 25 miles - $40 45 miles - $70 100 miles - $100 Guitar Lessons 30 min - $30 60 min - $45

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The way I typically do lessons is via Zoom/Google Hangouts, with a shared Google Drive folder between the two of us. That way, it’s easy to share materials and resources such as tabs, chord charts, and songs for suggested listening (I love sharing music that gets my students inspired). We’ll start with an introductory lesson so we can get to know each other a bit, with the intent of identifying your goals. Then, we’ll create a comprehensive game plan of how to get there.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My qualifications: - 16 years of playing experience with ensembles, solo work, and session recordings - 5 years of experience with private instruction - Music minor from University of Oregon
