FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Weekly half-hour lessons are priced at $100/month. Weekly full-hour lessons are $180/month. Intermittent full-hour lessons are $50/lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to know what the student's musical interests are. Favorite artists, favorite styles of music or favorite songs are a good place to start. The student's level of experience is assessed. If the student is a total beginner, we will start with learning to strum several chords and putting them together in a song. From there the path will vary, depending on the student. With students that are more advanced, I prefer to focus our attention on problem areas that arise. These might be technical issues or musical issues. I like to focus on a very small number of concepts at one time, in order to not change too many variables at one time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon. I have co-owned and co-directed a lesson school, and I currently teach guitar at Portland's Reed College and at Willamette University in Salem, Ore. I have been performing for twenty years throughout North America, Europe, East Asia and Australia.
