FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Not officially - I stay abreast of the design world globally, though various online publications, I get regular updates from vendors and manufacturers and, whenever possible, I attend design tradeshows in the U.S. and France to keep up with new products. I like to think that getting out and about, traveling extensively, is always part of my continuing design education, giving me opportunities to touch and see design around the world, which helps shape my vision and informs my design work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Ever since high school, I was fascinated with buildings...I was in a very small suburban school and had to work with faculty to establish my own "private" mechanical and architectural drafting courses, as nothing like that was offered in the standard curriculum! I took a long (8 years!), interesting professional path before finally putting myself in university to study Architecture and Art. By the time I'd tried out this and that over those 8 years before, I was still completely enamored and knew without doubt that architecture and design was it for me! I love it still, always will!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most common for me in residential work has been helping clients either refresh their existing larger "common areas": Living Rooms / Great Rooms, Dining Rooms. Also very common is helping those who have moved into new homes...this is often overwhelming for people trying to figure out what to keep, where it should go, new paint colors and window treatments...and then I provide suggestions for anything they HAVEN'T considered that will make their new spaces really home for their unique lifestyles and taste.
