Introduction: Congratulations on taking the first step toward improving your health and fitness. I offer online training comprised of live, 1-on-1 video sessions via Zoom.* My clients have found online training to be as effective as in person training, if not more so, both in terms of maintaining a consistent workout schedule and in obtaining results. We’ll begin with a phone call to assess your fitness goals and your health history in depth, and to answer your questions on what to expect. Next we’ll meet to perform an assessment of your body mechanics, which will lay the foundation for the program I will create for you. Your program will be comprised of personalized workouts tailored to your body mechanics and specific goals, a customized mobility routine, cardio programming, around the clock access to me via messaging, as well as nutritional guidance (if desired) to support your goals from EVERY angle. A little bit about me: I have been a certified personal trainer for 10 years. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Lewis & Clark College, I completed 9 months of education and training at the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) and received my certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). In addition, I have the following specialty certifications: Corrective Exercise Specialist, Sports Performance Specialist, Certified Russian Kettle Bell Instructor, Triggerpoint Therapy (for muscle functionality and recovery), and Animal Flow (a functional, dynamic bodyweight exercise modality). I have also received training in the Precision Nutrition approach to nutrition and diet. Before starting my personal training business, I was a Tier 3 trainer for 3 years at Equinox Sports Club in Los Angeles, working with high profile clientele in a corporate setting and teaching educational workshops to fellow trainers. My philosophy: I believe that personal training should be more than just an hour of generic exercises that leave you exhausted and “sore for days” - while this approach might have short term results, it is difficult to sustain and won’t improve your quality of movement or overall fitness over the long run. My goal as a trainer is to educate you on how to move and exercise so that you can be stronger and healthier for the rest of your life. My training style can be described as Functional Training, which means you won’t be doing bicep curls, burpees, and a ton of cardio. Functional training means you’ll be doing exercises that challenge your entire muscular system as it was intended to be used: as a unit that functions in all planes of motion, utilizing a multitude of muscle systems working together. I’ve found this style of training to be the most efficient and sustainable for staying injury- and pain-free in the long term, whether you’re looking to lose fat, gain muscle, or establish a safe and effective exercise regimen to keep your body and mind healthy and feeling well. Your body is different from every other body - by assessing your unique body mechanics, designing a mobility routine to get you uninhibited in your movements, and pushing you logically and methodically, you will see lasting, sustainable changes in your physique and mindset. Emily is fantastic! She really knows what she is talking about when it comes to anatomy and movement; works well with my multiple repetitive stress injuries. The best trainer I have worked with in years, she really sees me as an individual and plans accordingly.

Okay... being limited to choosing only 3 qualities for Emily? How about only 3 flavors for ice cream? Don't think that I need to elaborate on that point. Emily has, to put it simply, been the fulcrum in helping me to leverage a return to physical health in my recovery from cancer. She has been sensitive to my personal needs and physical limits catering each step for the maximum outcome towards improvement. She doesn't push, she inspires and she follows up outside of sessions with really great information and support. I can not recommend her highly enough. I chose professionalism over value and punctuality since from my perspective you can not exhibit real professionalism with out applying value and punctuality as well. Thank You Emily.

From my first introduction to Emily it was obvious that she delivers superior physical training. She is excellent in using her own truly significant depth of training and experience to create a program for me individually -- one that is fluid enough to adapt to my needs during any particular session. Emily works on body functionality -- how I use my body every day to stay healthy and strong. Nutrition, water consumption, sleep needs are explored for me individually to help attain a sense of well-being and balance. I have trained for years with a trainer using only machines. It has been a true surprise and joy to find that the restrictions of Covid have actually introduced me to Emily's uplifting on-line training. My workout is well planned, always varied, uses weights and bands and other inexpensive easily obtained accessories. Emily is prompt and very well organized and encouraging of my progress. I will stay with Emily on-line even when gyms are again available. Our sessions are held peacefully in my own home, relaxed, private, and I end my session feeling toned and happy. Most of all, I don't feel judged in any way. Emily obviously loves her work and I benefit by Emily's professionalism, positive energy, and her caring to be sure her client is receiving the very best training that Emily can give.

I highly recommend Emily to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Emily provides a clear roadmap to get you from your starting point to your target goal in the least amount of time. After 10 weeks of working with Emily, I have lost 10 pounds while gaining a considerable amount of muscle (this is very difficult to achieve, but especially so at 53!). Most importantly, I have regained much of my youth including the ability to run a few miles. I could not run, period, prior to EB’s program. Emily uses a wholistic model that includes nutrition, mobility, stability, strength, and body composition (weight gain/loss). Whatever your challenge, Emily’s assessment will find the right solution for you. Just add work and commitment and you will see results.
