FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard sessions include a 45-minute session and a $100 product credit. All portrait products, gifts, and digital images are available for purchase during the image reveal & ordering session. My wedding coverage has 3 packages - all include 2 professional photographers, a photographer's assistant, various hours of coverage depending on package, an heirloom product (typically an album or book and a wall art piece) depending on package, and retouched images on USB (printable up to a size 8x10). Additional portrait products and gifts are available for purchase during the image reveal & ordering session.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My portrait and wedding photography business is so much more than a photo session. My clients deserve attention and service! My process begins with a pre-session planning consultation, where I am able to learn more about my client and his/her portraits goals, go over needs, view and feel portrait product samples, and schedule the perfect day for the session or plan for my team to inspect and scout the wedding venue. After the pre-session planning consultation, I spend time researching and scouting the best location to fit my client's needs. Our session is completed and I spend the next 2-3 weeks expertly retouching and enhancing the best images from our session and then we schedule a personal portrait reveal & ordering session. My clients are able to select their favorite images from our session and order the portrait products that best meet their needs (wall art, albums, story boxes, desk art, gift prints, and/or digital images to share with family and social media). I personally order, inspect, and deliver all portrait products to my clients directly and even assist with installation, if needed!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to pursue professional photography after my kids had spent countless sessions and hundreds of dollars in the studio (for a couple of photos), crying because they had to wait, and getting mediocre prints for friends and family. My children are beautiful, but nothing captures their personalities better than being out in their own element instead of stuck in a brightly-lit box-of-a-room with a stranger telling them what to do. After shooting some photos for a few friends, I realized that my experience being a mom calmed many uneasy children - even the most difficult to work with - and it was suggested to me that I start a photography business. Friends began to comment on the quality and style of my photos and inquired if I would shoot their engagement photos, wedding photos, 1st birthday photos for their kids, and family portraits and here I am, years later!
