About

My 7-year-old daughter took weekly singing lessons with Emily for a little over 3 months. Emily was sweet and very encouraging. My daughter really liked her and was always looking forward to her singing lessons. The lessons had to stop because Emily was relocating to another city. Before she left, Emily went out of her way, took time from her busy moving schedule and gave my daughter a free farewell lesson. We wish her all the best in her new chapter in life.

About

Kris Savitski is an amazing teacher and listener. I was nervous about the little knowledge and experience I had with playing piano being 35 years old. As I took a music theory class in college I used to know a bit more but it had been so long and wanted to finally learn to really play. Kris was able to quickly see where I was at and took the time in our first session to see what my strengths and (many) weaknesses were lol. He was able to immediately give me a couple of drills to practice at home or anywhere to build dexterity strength. Every lesson I have been taking with Kris is enjoyable as we practice pieces recommended by him to get me up to speed and improve music theory skills but ALSO pieces that I am interested in learning. I used to think that taking piano lessons would be boring and dreadful to go to, but Kris TRULY ADAPTED TO HOW I LEARN and mostly uses genres that appeal to me! His INNOVATIVE TEACHING is what has kept me coming back and continuing to take lessons from him. Some of our sessions include him playing a melody while I improvise the harmony which allows me to really learn the type of sound(s) I feel sound amazing together in order to write my own pieces. He will also video what I'm playing via my phone so that I can remember the improvised sounds and notes, along with finger placement for me to refer to when practicing at home. Of course he provides classic learning pieces to practice which are key for me to improve my music reading skills and muscle memory for finger placements as well. I mentioned to Kris in one of my later lessons that I wanted to write AND SING songs and he has now incorporated voice lessons with our practices. I never thought I would have enough courage to sing seriously in front of someone but Kris has a way of being professional yet truly helpful in a way that allows you to be comfortable as it can be scary opening your creativity up to anyone. Therefore I now have the the courage and ease to sing in front of him and have learned so many breathing and vocal techniques since we've started incorporating vocal too! I would highly recommend Kris to anyone at any skill set level as he is a true teacher and listener with extreme talent.

Judy has been great with my son. He's really enjoying the piano. The lessons are short enough to hold his attention and keep his interest- while still getting some good practice in!

About

Enjoy the adventure! Music Studio: I teach in West Linn. If this is convenient for you, I'd love to hear from you! I teach voice and piano, and enjoy working with all ages and abilities: youth and adults, frog and canary voices. Voice: I believe anyone can sing, with gentle guidance and encouragement! I enjoying working with all ages: young, emerging musicians, adults trying something new, and seasoned performers wanting to move to the next level. Many students come with specific performing goals; others want to pursue music simply for the pleasure of it. Many of my adult students were told they "couldn't sing," or asked to "mouth the words" when in a school choir. It is a great pleasure to help these students claim and celebrate their musical abilities. Breathing techniques and a relaxed focus are based on a classical approach for optimum vocal health. These techniques are then applied to the styles of interest for the student - pop, musical theatre, folk, gospel, and classical. I work with each student to create an individualized program. Musicianship, including phrasing, expression, and performance skills, are naturally incorporated. Vocal students are welcome (though not required!) to integrate a modified study of keyboard and or sight reading to enhance musicianship and musical literacy. Piano: I welcome beginning and intermediate piano students, ages 5 to 95! Most important is to find music that will excite and inspire. With a background performing a variety of styles including classical, rock, pop, and jazz infused, I can help you find what you want to play. Artistry, comfortable technique, and accessible music theory are linked within the goals and interests of each student. Together, we will develop a customized plan that fits you! Guitar: I offer friendly, accessible beginning guitar lessons to get you started. We start right off with chords and songs, checking to make sure your hand positions are relaxed and flow easily. Once you master strumming and basic fingerpicking, you graduate to master guitar teacher Mark Hanson (see below)! About Greta: I've been a professional musician for over 30 years, as an educator, performer and songwriter. I've appeared internationally in concerts, arts festivals, night clubs, and schools, and on radio and television. My instruments include piano, guitar, and mountain dulcimer. Currently, I perform an eclectic mix of styles, including blues, jazz, folk and classic rock with Grammy winning guitarist Mark Hanson. I also offer solo piano and piano/vocal music for special occasions, plus engaging and interactive programs for schools, libraries, and family-oriented events. 2009 National Artist of the Year, Young Audiences Award of Excellence, Film Advisory Board: Friendship Stew (CD) Classic Recording Award for Music is Magic (CD) Music BA, Stanford University Music Teaching Credential, San Jose State University Music Study, Vienna Austria

I've been taking lessons from Kristin for a year now and it's been a great experience. She is patient and encouraging. As a beginner who has never taken any music training, I appreciate the various teaching methods she uses, and that I am learning the fundamentals, and not just to play songs. She has also been flexible when I had personal and work commitments to change my schedule so that I could continue lessons.

Would highly recommend. Cameron makes it enjoyable for my 5 year old and teaches in a way that keeps him engaged and willing to learn. The program is fun for my son and I even hear him singing the songs from piano lesson while he's playing with his toys. As a working parent, I also appreciate that Cameron is flexible when our schedule needs to change.

I met Grant when he visited Willowbrook Arts Camp in Tualatin, and subsequently employed him to teach piano and provide accompaniment for musical theatre performances for three summers. He was one of the best piano teachers we have ever had! Grant's enthusiasm just bubbles over as draws kids into the magic of music. He is a sensitive listener and strong supporter of each student’s creative inspiration and efforts. He is also a tremendously talented musician who can traverse genres with ease, although his personal focus is jazz. During the time he was teaching, afternoon jazz collaborations with other camp musicians and students became a staple. We were also treated to mini concerts whenever he had a rare pause in his lesson lineup. He was a highly popular and loved teacher and fellow staff member. We thoroughly appreciated all that Grant offered to the Willowbrook music program! Rebecca

Gay Otey has been instructing me in piano weekly for over 4 years. As an adult beginner with just enough knowledge to get me in trouble, I have been improving with Gay's patient assistance. I began with basic arrangements with help to improve technique and confidence. With lots of coaching, I have improved to more difficult piano arrangements and have been able to perform for a small music group. There is never a dull moment with Gay, but at the same time she reinforces the discipline needed to develop piano skills. Even when I get frustrated Gay is able to encourage me. She has a great sense of humor so we have fun while working. Also for over a year I have had instruction in voice and I think that my voice and the range of my voice have improved greatly due to her exercises particularly her focus on breath. Gay has a very professional attitude, but adjusts the structure and exercises to the student and the student's goals. I find this very helpful. I am enjoying my piano and singing more and I am developing more knowledge of music. I can not think of anything more that Gay could do to make learning piano and vocal skills more effective.

Shlomo has been my son's piano teacher for almost two years, and my family and I are very thankful for having him as the instructor to our kid. He is patient and easily understood, and his method of teaching young kids at an early age ~6-7 years old) is both interesting and fundamentally strong. He is not shy to bring his knees down just to talk to the kid, and he is a wonderful pianist and composer as well! He is easily one of the most talented teacher that we have seen, and we are glad to gave him the wholehearted recommendations. My son is entering level one now having completed both prep A and B levels, a and he is having a lot of fun in Shlomo's class (private one on one lesson).

I have worked with Emily on multiple occasions as performer, lecturer, and educator. Emily is outstanding at what she does. She is a great singer and performer, an intense and dedicated, creative and innovative musician, a responsible, dependable, and articulate director and leader, and a sensitive, caring, and effective teacher. She is an entrepreneur, a humanitarian, and a focused business-person, and I recommend her highly.

I took lessons for 9 years. I haven't played much for the last five years. I do not want to learn any modern stuff. I am also interested in someone who can help me develop my organ skills. I've been teaching myself to play, and want to get better at the organ.
