I gave up on piano in the third grade and decided at the age of 35 that it was time to pick it back up again. I have been highly satisfied with the piano learning experience I’ve been having with Hobbit Music Studio this past year. As a public school instructional coach, I am able to recognize all the different high leverage teaching strategies that Shannon uses in our sessions. He differentiates each lesson to my specific learning needs while also educating me about music theory. I find each of our sessions to be engaging, rigorous and relevant. My greatest fear is that the word will get out about this incredible top notch music studio and he will be hard to get into if my work schedule were to change. 😆Aug 2, 2018
As an adult looking for beginner lessons I was a bit nervous at first but I'm very happy that I found Shannon. He is easy to work with and keeps my lessons interesting so that I'm continuously progressing. He's very versatile in his style and I believe I'm learning more from him because he is a working professional musician. If you are looking for piano lessons I highly recommend checking him out!Aug 1, 2018Verified
I am a music major on break for the summer. Shannon heard what i wanted from my lessons and helped create a customized lesson plan to fit my needs. He is very obviously passionate about teaching , and maintained an open dialogue such that I was able to ask questions and recieve fleshed out answers. I have had very unmotivated and non-personalized music teachers in the past and I was exstatic to find that Shannon was neither of those things.Aug 1, 2018Verified
An experienced musician and music teacher, who is flexible and receptive, and who tailors curriculum to teach student's preference. As a result you get a student excited about music lessons-rare occurrence!Jul 11, 2018Verified
Lessons for our grandchildren have been great. Shannon is fun and spontaneous yet able to help the kids focus. Lessons are individualized to the student’s abilities. Our kids are 4 1/2 and 6 1/2.Feb 8, 2018Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I offer a free enrollment lesson, consultation, and assessment. I want to be confident I am both a good fit to teach my students, and that my students are a good fit for my studio. I want the student to feel comfortable with my personality and talent level. I ask a lot of questions to best understand why each student wants lessons and what the end goals are for them so I can tailor a teaching plan specific to there learning style and goals as a musician. After the free lesson and consultation students ready to learn from me choose a lesson package and begin paying for their lessons at the packed monthly rate. They leave the free introductory lesson with exercises to begin practicing.
