Jason Craig is an all-together TERRIFIC person and photographer. He did a TRULY outstanding job of making all ages of the participants in our event feel at ease. We laughed, we had fun and we ended up with extra-EXTRA-ordinary professional pictures and video that will easily travel generations forward. Jason was able to capture the spirit of the event! We HIGHLY recommend Jason's services. By the end of your event, you will have successful photography/filming AND a friend. Becky and Bob Hanna Sequim, Washington

I've been doing the marketing at Jugs Sports for over 35 years, in that time I've had the chance to work with many companies that specialized in video & photography, though they all did a professional job, not one of them delivered the "Total Package" like Front Porch Branding. Myself, the people I work with & the people I work for give Front Porch Branding our highest recommendation. If you're serious about your company, you owe it to yourself to give Jerrad & Ethan a call. I guarantee you'll be glad you did.

I found myself in a dilemma when the video editor I hired told me it would take 2-3 weeks for my final product. Tim responded to my inquiry quickly, and set off to work. He listened to what I wanted, and created magic, which was a miracle with the not so stellar wedding video I had. Duclos Media did a wonderful job, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

Spencer provided tremendous service with a last minute request to set up 3 video conference rooms for my nonprofit organization. The work involved mounting and connecting the video conference equipment (cameras, microphones, and computer controllers) and televisions. He took great care in the placement and precision of the mounts, and ensured unobtrusive and clean cable management. We'll definitely be going back to him with any future needs.

Richard received my video of skydive taken with go pro and several video clips my wife took from the ground; my vision was soaring like an eagle , so he found clips of eagles, incorporated John Denver RMH and hawks and eagle music in background ending with eagles in a great 11 minute flight of my soaring like an eagle. It highly impressive to a few that have reacted with good emotion. I highly recommend richard for your videos.

Karney is a dynamic documenter of reality, choosing vibrant topics for his storytelling, and enhancing them with his keen eyes, ears, and skills. I have enjoyed his photo and video work at the Village Building Convergence and other community events. His passion for environmental and human sustainability ignites these important topics and projects them to a wider audience. He also did yoga portraits with me, and we had so much fun--he makes a person feel very comfortable with the camera, natural, and beautiful. He is in the right field for combining his appreciation of, and creative flair for, the art of life.

They did our wedding video and did an AMAZING job! Everything about the video was perfection and makes me cry every time! I can't even count how many compliments we received for our wedding video. David, Olivia, and Johnathan were very professional and got tons of footage between the three of them. They used two cameras and a drone and the footage they combined for the video was breathtaking. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!

Marc was AWESOME!!! And the video was incredible. The wedding day felt so quick for both my Husband and myself, but the video makes us feel like we’re reliving the whole thing in the most beautiful way. Most of the time I had no clue he was even capturing things, but I’m so amazed at all of the highlights. He’s truly so talented. I would recommend him to ANYONE!!!

Thanks for the opportunity - such an extraordinary talent and professional, a joy to work with, who was referred to me by a colleague I respect and admire - well, that's enough for me. Carey is a wonderful creative collaborator, as is her entire organization. First of all, Carey is a remarkable listener, who reviewed my goals and needs for the video, including sound, editing, titling, then offered tactful suggestions for improvement and/or variations on the theme, ran those by me, and we reached a creative understanding of how to proceed, painlessly. The folks at AARP/Oregon were very pleased with the results - and you'll find the program at: http://www.lifeloveandhealth.com/aarp%E2%80%94life-reimagined/ Please, if you have any questions, contact me at: chris@bodylanguage.org

Working with Fnnl It was absolutely amazing! We hired them to help us with our grand-opening of our new coffee shop in Forest Grove called, "Telvet Coffee". They came up with a buy 2-drinks-get-1-free campaign that generated 96 leads in less than a week. They built us an automated sales funnel that had a beautifully produced promo video showcasing our special drinks and built an attractive landing page that captured people’s emails while sending the text message coupon straight to our customer's cell phone. They used Facebook video ads to send traffic to the landing page and I was getting those leads sent to my phone. I had to put my phone on silent because it was going off so much. I was even getting them in my sleep. Thank you Fnnl It for helping us out with our grand opening. It was a huge success and look forward to working with you again! Best, T. We are a small startup and we needed to make a corporate video in LESS THAN ONE WEEK due to a potential funding opportunity. With little experience on what to do and what to expect, we went on Thumbtack. John was one of a few video photographers who responded to our requests and interviewed with us. John immediately stood out from everyone else when he came in with a list of questions about our business. Based on our answers he provided us a specific plan how he envisioned making this video, an outline of the script and a quote with details on how much each specific item cost (such as equipment, filming, post production, music, voice over, etc.) so we could choose within the budget. The demonstrated experience and professionalism were impressive and definitely put us at ease that John could produce a great video within our limited time frame and limited budget. And the actual experience working with him proved that we have made the right choice. He showed genuine interests and enthusiasm in our business that he made the whole team comfortable in front of the camera. He was creative in how he presented our technology and strength. And he was diligent in postproduction so we were able to make changes/revisions within our CRAZY time frame. We’d definitely recommend John to anyone looking for a great video photographer, and we’d love to work with him again in the future.

Ivan is an incredible video resource in two ways: 1. His cinematography is outstanding. 2. His shoots are high quality. He does excellent post production so you get the shoot, and the editing. He's also not just a technical guy- he has a knack for the most important part of video: story telling. He is very easy to work with. Has a good creative eye.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
