Tony is magnificent at his profession. He has done what no others has attempted to do. I have an older boiler that basically has two wires and no common wire. There was this wifi thermostat that I have been trying to install for years now. I have inquired about getting it install from a few HVAC personnel and they have not been helpful. Tony is very resourceful, meticulous and studious. He has put all other HVAC pros to shame. He is a consummate pro who never gives up and research issues until they get resolved. I appreciate his service a lot. My wifi thermostat is now working. For this reason, I give the highest recommendation for him.

Job description: installing backsplash. William & his team came over and were very flexible to coordinate the estimate and responded quickly to requests. We had some issue with the job that was done (my house is not totally level in all places so it made the backsplash un-level too) but William and his crew came back and fixed it for us free of charge.

John was prompt and his rates are more than reasonable. He was able to complete the job when the original installers claimed we had a bad shut off value, which we know wasn't the case thanks to John. If you're looking for a someone who takes the time to "Do the job right the first time" then John is your man. Thanks John P.S. John stands by his work and will come back out if you run into any problems with his install!

Tom did a fantastic job with my kitchen cabinets and painting. I called him to quote me for refacing my kitchen cabinets, but later added more work to paint several rooms and remove textured ceiling. Overall, he was very helpful and completed work neatly. He was patient in answering all my questions and I gained good knowledge about different aspects of house from him. He is very organized and starts early. I will definitely recommend him for any carpentry work or paint job.

Kevin installed two bathroom light fixtures and one was particularly tricky to install. He did amazing job and I couldn’t be happier. I also had Kevin look at some upcoming project ideas: refinishing kitchen cabinets and putting in backsplash tile. His quotes are reasonable and fair. He really knows his stuff. I’m looking forward to having Kevin do more work for me in the future.

I write this review a month after the installation of my new tile floors and kitchen backsplash. TLC Flooring did a great job, and the owner Dean was very professional. The job was done nicely, and without issues. I definitely reccomend this company for all flooring needs. It's hard to find a honest contractor, but I did. We will be using TLC Flooring again for future projects, so will my extended family. Thanks again TLC Flooring!

Sam painted the walls of four rooms including the hallway of my townhouse at a reasonable price. He had to fix a very bad sparkle in part of the kitchen ceiling, and he did an excellent job! Now that I can hardly notice the area, which used to be a pain to look at. He did everything professionally and left the house nice and clean. After that Sam helped with the tiles of two bathrooms. While doing the tiles, he had to replace one of the toilets which was not functioning. He was running back and forth getting extra materials needed. I'd say he did the bathroom tile project beautifully within a tight schedule (he managed to finish the project right before the carpet delivery next day). Later on, Sam helped replacing a faucet that caused water leak in the bathroom. I am very satisfied with Sam's work(BTW, he is nice to speak with), and will definitely recommend him.

Rich did an extensive and complex hardwood flooring project at our large home(5000+sqft). It blended bamboo 1/2"x5.25" with the oak 3/4"x2.5". The oak was use as a boarder around the rooms with wood changing directions throughtout. This was done to blend the bamboo with the existing oak hardwood. He also completed our upstairs including a floating walkway. The wood was ran straight across the upstairs including the walkway and blended off of the straight run into side rooms/closets. Rich showed integrity throughout the project, was detailed orientated, avoided shortcuts, and used thoughtful planning on every step of the project. I would highly recommend him.

Hope and Faith did a tile repair job on my shower walls , installed new tub and shower fixtures, cleaned, regrouted and sealed all three walls in my bathroom shower. After excepting their estimate for the job they were ready to start the job three days later. The one day that Eric was running late he even called to let me know he would be about an 1/2 hr late. He gave a 1 year guarantee on the work he did except for the tub and shower fixtures which is covered by the manufacturer.Eric even came back 2 days later after the job was finished because some of the grout had shrunk during the curing process.I will call them back if I ever need to hire a contractor again.Thank you Hope and Faith Flooring and Cabinets .

Michael was so easy to work with. He was flexible with our schedule, worked efficiently around our animals (we have 3), and turned out a truly amazing final product. Our backsplash looks phenomenal and was worth the time and money to have a professional come in and do the work. We would recommend his services to anyone and would be happy to use him again in the future!

Absolutely 100% recommend this company for all painting and backsplash tiling needs. The guys were extremely clean and protected our new floors and furniture with plenty of covers. Quality of painting was spot on. We asked them to be very careful not to paint hinges and hardware, and they didn’t get a drop of paint on them. We remodeled our entire home, and with all of the different contractors we had do work, Essential Painting was by far the best. Would recommend every time, and reach out to me through Thumbtack if you want a more detailed referral.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
