Simply the best. I've used several resume writing services that promised results but didn't deliver, and spent countless hours researching resume writing and trying to do it myself with mixed results. Evolution Coaching delivered a stellar resume that aligned with my professional experience *and* my job goals and in just a few days. It's the best version of my resume, ever.. Highly recommended..

Joe from Life Work did an outstanding job with my resume and cover letter. He took the time to deliver a really enjoyable to read and at the same time formal resume that matched exactly my personality and work ethic. He knows how to write and is aware of the recruitment system we have nowadays. I'll recommend him to my family members and friends with no doubts. Thanks!

My 4th grade daughter is struggling with reading comprehension/writing and has been working with Jill for a few months. Her essay responses have improved dramatically during her latest reporting period. My daughter has ADHD - Jill accomodates her with a lot of patience, breaks and little activities for the two hour session. We are very please to provide an excellent rating for Jill and highly recommend.

Dan is an excellent teacher. After some lessons, I run home to write myself notes of everything that we covered in the lesson so I don't forget. Compared to other teachers, I feel like I'm getting two lessons in one.

I have technical documents often to be edited. My writing in English is not so strong because I am from Hungary and she can change it to make it much better. She understands the technical language even through my Bad English, and she is always punctual and professional. I will continue to use her service.

This experience alone could change the course of my life. I have learned so much in such a little time. I don't know how to say I appreciate your work, to the extent to which I feel it has helped me. Thank you!!

Janet was the first to respond at my request for a professionally written resume and cover letter. I never thought there was another who could paint a portrait of the past 7 years of my working career under 48 hours. Not even knowing me or who I am, she has a writing ability to describe my work history and ethic better than anyone I know personally. She is truely gifted in her writing skillset and does a fantastic job. 5 of 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, and I'd tip my hat to her. I feel very confident that her work will be extremely critical in my career switch. Thank you, Janet and keep up yhe great work! Andrew Staskowski

Benedicte is absolutely amazing. I have had 4 classes so far and each time I took away couple of things I can implement in my daily professional activities. During the first meeting Benedicte was able to identify all areas that need an improvement and prioritize them. This way I do not feel overwhelmed and can focus on the right thing at the right time. There is still a way to go for me, but from the very first meeting I have the confidence that I am in the right hands. No matter if you are at the beginning of your journey or well advanced but still feel not proficient enough, Benedicte can adapt learning experience to your level and expectations. I highly recommend this tutor.

Leslie has been tutoring my teenager son for 2 years. Since she started, his English level, writing and reading have improved tremendously, going from below average to beyond expectations. Leslie demonstrated excellent teaching skills, being softer at times and pushing more when needed. Moreover she shown a lot of flexibility to adapt to him and his scheduled when needed and always got the work done. Leslie has been above and beyond expectations!

Ms. Polis was truly a delight to work with. What justly makes her resume writing service different from the rest is that she meets with you and wants to get to know you so that she can comprehend what your work history really demands are. Ms. Polis consistently keeps up on new trends in the industry and applies these new practices to her every day work. The best demonstration of this is when Ms. Polis did research in addition to meeting with me about my job field to truly understand the work I do on a day to day basis. This was a great display of Ms. Polis willingness to update her job knowledge and Master her position in this ever changing field. She is an empathetic and great active listener. She listened as I tried to describe all my job duties and was able to articulate eloquently my job duties for the past 10 years. In addition to resume writing services provided Ms. Polis introduced me to a prospective mentor that would be able to help me grow in my field of work and provided me with names of books that she felt would also be of assistance to me. She was open to any concerns or suggestions I had and proactively responded to feedback. I really can’t say enough about her …She also went above and beyond her role by helping another personal acquaintance of mine to network in order to find employment. No wonder she is able to have lasting effect on customer relationships!! Long story short if you want the BEST … hire her … SHE WILL GET THE JOB DONE!!

Rob offered to help me with my resume, sat on a long call to go over the details and what I wanted to have on it. I have just recently graduated and was not sure what employers like to see and what I should be talking about when I am writing the resume. He also helped me craft a solid LinkedIn profile that has already gotten an uptick in views. The best part is, he offered all of this at a pretty low rate in a quick 2-day turnaround... only fair I write a truthful review!

I could not be happier with Dorothy's excellent editing skills. Her written and oral feedback to me was right on target, demonstrating not only a fine grasp of the rules of language, but also an intuitive sense of what I was attempting to communicate. I would give her a well-deserved 5-star rating!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

  • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
  • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
  • Expertise in your target area.
  • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

  • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
  • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
