Introduction: I strive for perfection in makeup application. As a licensed medical aesthetician and internationally trained and certified makeup artist I have extensive experience understanding the anatomy, color, lighting, undertones, overtones, texture (the skin) which are key elements for a flawless makeup application. Everything. There is something very rewarding being able to work in the world of art. Being a makeup artist allows me to challenge my skills and training. I learn something new everyday. And, by teaching make up and special effects allows the imagination to soar. As my father has taught me art all my life, it is a natural process for me to teach others. I feel blessed to share what I have learned with students as they build their own careers in the makeup industry.

Carolyn is phenomenal! I've taken Makeup Theory 101 and 102. I had such a positive experience with the academy that I've enlisted in the upcoming Bridal Boot Camp course. Carolyn is truly an artist and a professional. Her classes are a representation of her vast experience in all things makeup and her elegant disposition. The curriculum is comprehensive and the class setting relaxed. I garnered a new respect for makeup, honed my skills, and had a wonderful time while doing it.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I keep my pricing for classes quite simple. If working on a film one has to consider time, the price of your kit (makeup kit) used on set, travel, paying assistants.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm always learning. I attend seminars, makeup classes, art classes, and practice...practice, practice. As artists may we never stop learning.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was by chance. I was working in the corporate world when I had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I knew then that the stress from the corporate world was not good for my health. I needed a career change. I had always loved skincare so I went to school during my treatments to become a medical aesthetician. Makeup was always something I did for pleasure and my client base just started growing rapidly. I love what i do and have never looked back.
