Jack was awesome. He took great care of my boys, Shih-Tzus, while I was traveling. He kept me abreast of all the little things that Doggie Mom's like to know and my dogs loved him. They let him how much they appreciated him by sitting in front of the door at the time that he visited them waiting for his arrival. Thank you Jack, from me and boys, for all you did to keep them comfortable during my trip.

Michele comes to our house and cares for our two senior dogs. One of them has mobility issues and Michele knows exactly how to care for her. I feel comfortable knowing that my pets can stay home in their own environment and be well taken care of by someone who showers them with affection. Michele is easy to get in touch with and always responds quickly!!

Nicole took the time to come to my house to meet with me and my dog prior to signing a contract so that everyone involved felt comfortable and agreed with her method of training. She if very calm with the dogs and trains in a gentle caring manner. She corrects bad behavior and gives praise for good behavior, teaching the dog how to please their humans. I can't wait until my dog comes back from spending two weeks with Nicole and can teach me how to communicate with her so she can show me what she learns. I highly recommend working with Nicole.

I highly recommend Christina and Tony. I don't trust anyone in my house when I'm not home let alone with my dogs and cats. My dogs absolutely love Christina and Tony and look forward to their visits with treats. One of my dogs is scared and nervous around men but she loved her visit with Tony. My cats aren't to personal and tend to hide when strangers are around, not so much with Tony and Chistina. They come out from hiding for belly rubs when they Christina and Tony come over. What I love the most is that they take pictures during each visit and constantly keep me updated after each visit. It's nice knowing my pets are comfortable when I'm not around and getting a lot of love by Christina and Tony. They are very well organized, always on time, and clean. YES clean, I'm a neat freak with bad OCD. They clean up after themselves and the animals after the visit. After being away for multiple days my house is cleaner then I left it. If it wasn't for Christina and Tony I could of never taken a vacation this summer or gone away on the weekends. Not only am I happy, my dogs are too. They don't have to be in a over crowded kennel and can feel safe at home.

I have utilized Kathy's pet sitting services for over a year and I am extremely satisfied. My two beautiful bunnies are also very happy and comfortable whenever she sits them. Her services are exceptional. Whether I bring the bunnies to her or she comes to baby sit them at my own home there is always punctuality and professionalism. She makes sure to follow my instructions with regards to diet and exercise. She goes the extra mile to make sure they are well taken care of when I am away. I would higly recommend her to baby sit any pet as she is trustworthy and qualified.

    About

Pet sitting and house sitting is who I am. I love animals, and I'm very professional. I'm a people person, and I get along well with others.

    About

I am a biology college student who is very familiar with animals - dogs in particular. I am well-versed in biology and science and am comfortable taking care of a sick animal. I worked in an animal shelter caring for both dogs and cats for 4 years in high school. I also have had a dog for the past 13 years and intimately understand animals and how to care for them. I attended an agriculture high school where we cared for all kinds of animals. At the school, I volunteered at an animal daycare for teachers and was in charge of our "woof wash" where be bathed and clipped animals nails. I am always happy to walk and play or just sit on the couch and hang out.

    About

I work for others as I would work for myself. I am prompt and efficient. I am confident that all of customers will be more than satisfied with my services. I provide services in pet, house-sitting and administrative support.

    About

I am a pet and house sitter. I stay at your house when you go away on vacation or business trip. When I stay at your house, I would do what you do when you are there -- get the mail, bring in the newspaper, water the plants, and bring in or put out the trash cans. I make your home lived for the time you are away. I also walk your pet, if staying at your house is not necessary, or if you are at work or away from home for a long period of time. When I walk your pet, I will feed, play with, and walk him/her. My rates are $45.00 per night for overnight stays and $18.00 per half hour for dog walking.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

    • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
    • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
    • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
