Karen was an absolute dream to work with! From our very first telephone call, it was extremely obvious Karen truly enjoys what she does. My husband (!) and I really wanted a ceremony that reflected us as a couple. Karen provided us each with a Love Story Questionnaire to fill out separately from one another and then incorporated our responses into her ceremony address. She put so much time and care into our personalized ceremony, which I have received so many compliments on! She even provided a folder to us after the ceremony that included our Love Story Questionnaires to read, a copy of her personalized ceremony address, and copies of the wedding vows we wrote for each other, in addition to our marriage record. I could not have asked for anything more from Karen, because she far exceeded my wildest dreams! Besides the quality Karen offers her couples, her service fees were the absolute lowest around! My husband and I are not local to the area where we got married, so it was tricky finding an officiant that we connected with and could afford. Weddings are extremely expensive, and after some unexpected family hardships, money was tighter than we had originally planned. I had received multiple quotes that made me want to cry (and these officiants offered much, much less service than Karen offers for much, much more cost than Karen charges). When I came across Karen, I felt like I could breathe again because she wasn't trying to take advantage of us like many of the officiants I had previously been in contact with. I truly appreciate her integrity to not overcharge in an industry that triples the asking price at the mention of the word, "wedding". Karen welcomed my mother, my husband, and myself into her home and broke down every single detail of the wedding rehearsal, which she attended and participated in, and the actual ceremony. She provided her guidance and advice throughout the entire year, so while we may have hired her for what seems like an hour's worth of time, Karen put so much more into making our special day unremarkable! I cannot say it enough, Karen is amazing! She would make a great addition to your special day. Thank you beyond words. Karen!

I have worked for a non-profit organization for 26 years, and recently my new boss asked for my resume. At first,I was totally over whelmed and didn't know where to start. I contacted Syreeta a few days before my resume was due, and we talked a bit and she asked questions, and the rest is history. In a nut shell she provided me with a professional and top-notch resume in just a few days. I am absolutely impressed with my resume and pretty sure that I'll use her services in the future. Also, I want to say that Syreeta was very positive and reassuring the entire time that we worked together. She also met EVERY deadline. Moreover, I highly recommend SW Coaching & Consulting. Thanks again!

Working with Dina was a complete God send and I want to take a moment to describe this experience. After a difficult personal journey in recovering from a job loss, I became quite despondent and lost in terms of “what do I do next”. I was on the job hunt, but literally did not know what to type in the search bar when it came to knowing what I was seeking within a career. Next enters Dina…within the vastness of Thumbtack’s objective of matching you with the right fit, Dina was the only one who sent me a non-auto-generated, well-crafted personal response to me. We immediately clicked in the consultation appointment, where she thoroughly explained how I could benefit from her expertise. From there, she assisted me in regaining my confidence, guiding me towards professional strengths and knowledge that I didn’t even know I had to offer. She coached me with how to converse and deal with recruiters—something I had never experienced before—and when the time was right to apply for positions, she helped me break-down the job description into a way I could understand my potential value, and together this allowed us to proceed with the resume and cover letter process. Can you imagine a scenario of a physician who made you feel like you were his/her only patient? This is what working with Dina was like. Along the way, Dina provided additional advice, words of wisdom, personal check-in’s, and “you might want to check this out” articles or videos. You could really feel the passion for the love of coaching others within her interactions. Within 3 months of her coaching, I have found a new career, one that I wasn’t even considering in terms of a profession. I whole-heartedly recommend Dina for assisting you within your career search or your professional growth!

I was so grateful for the opportunity to participate in Health Coach program. I really looked forward to our meetings every week and felt energized and positive about every interaction. The modules were easy to follow and understand with great relevance to real world living. One of the things I appreciated most about the coaching program was that it wasn’t only about diet or food; it truly applied to every area of a full and busy life. Motivation, relationships, emotional well-being, tools & tactics for how to approach or handle different scenarios, and the fact that everything had an anchor as a reminder was a great way to incorporate the program’s elements into everyday life. Kathie has a natural way of making people feel validated and help them explore their feelings in a comforting way while guiding them to their own conclusions of cause & effect. The plan never felt like a chore or that I couldn’t succeed because there was always a positive outcome or realization. Visualization and tactical reminders were great for reinforcement of the end goal. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to make a change in their life and focus; particularly with Kathie as the guide, it’s sure to be an enjoyable journey!!

At first, we were a little hesitant to hire Patricia. At the time, she had little experience officiating weddings and ours would be one of her first experiences. However, Patricia's pleasant attitude, warm and charismatic tone, and positive demeanor won us over during the interview. Our wedding ceremony was complicated. The ceremony was long and parts of it were to be synced with specific songs and actions. We were nervous that Patricia would not be able to adjust her speech to be perfectly in sync with the music like we had imagined. Patricia reached out to our DJ and ensured that they practiced timing and performance. She was reassuring, calm, and collected. Because she took the initiative to practice several times with the DJ before the wedding, she did a fantastic job incorporating our music into the ceremony. Long story short, everything went smoothly and we were thrilled! Patricia sent us a text the next day of her dropping off our marriage license at the post office. She was quick and efficient in the process, and this was greatly appreciated. Overall, we highly recommend Patricia as a wedding officiant. Despite having limited experience, Patricia's performance was phenomenal, well-rehearsed, and professional. Our guests commented about how clearly she spoke, how she spoke with emotion rather than just reading from the page, and how she was sensitive and warm to the guests and the needs of the bride and groom. We are endlessly grateful to have met Patricia and to have had the opportunity to snag her before she becomes a huge officiant with a busy schedule! Patricia, thank you for making our ceremony easy and beautiful. Thank you for all your hard work and patience! Sincerely, Irina and Steven T.

I sought out a coach because I was looking for guidance on ways to improve my career. I was experiencing a lack of fulfillment and needed help defining my professional goals and strategies for achieving them. Chris and I were able to set up our first meeting within one week of our initial call which I appreciated. We have had two meetings so far, and I can tell already that he is very astute. He helped me define my core challenges and goals within the first hour and we're already working on a plan for moving forward. He is personable and very encouraging. I would absolutely recommend him.

Katrina is a fantastic life coach! She has a very inviting and genuine personality. I felt comfortable talking to her almost immediately in our first session. Big or small, I feel like I can talk about anything that's going on in my life with Katrina. She always has time to "go into the weeds" with me and help understand what I am thinking. Not too long ago Katrina guided me through a major career change. I felt stuck where I was, and Katrina helped me to breakdown what I was going through and figure out what my true passions are. She got me to focus on what was important and we set goals that were both measurable and achievable. I am so much happier now, and I don't think I could have gotten here without Katrina's guidance. I would highly recommend Katrina as a life coach to anyone looking!

My experiences with Rick began a few years ago, when he began training/coaching me at a martial arts school where we practiced. I post this because simply knowing him has motivated me to be a better person in life. In the school, his directions were clear, concise. I liked that he was genuine, and never explained anything that he had not experienced himself. One trait that made him such a great coach, was his ability to detach, and take a look at challenges and obstacles from an outside perspective, that others may not be able to see. I have never seen him back down from an extreme challenge. Other traits that I noticed about him were his authentic positivity, and a ferocious determination to help others accomplish their goals, while at the same time being humble enough to listen to others and learn. I later came to realize that he is this way because he thrives on helping others perform to the best of their ability, and because he cares. I can always count on Rick, and I trust him. I'm fortunate that our paths somehow crossed in life. -Enrique Luna

My husband and I had our first skype communication with Jen this morning. We explained that we are hoping to improve our communication skills and desire better conflict resolution skills. She was already very helpful in getting both of us to open up more and identify how differently we view various issues that arise within our marriage. I am very excited to work with Jen and love the option of in-home visits, which is ideal for our schedules. She emphasized her role as a coach rather than a therapist, which made my husband feel a lot more at ease. I am optimistic about having Jen assist us in strengthening our bond and being a happier couple over all.

Working with Rick has been a really good experience so far. I had a few items that I wanted a career coach to help provide feedback/guidance on and I really think working with Rick will help through these items. One item is more of the solid goal planning I think most professionals may want to seek assistance with from time-to-time. As the CEO of a company in a similar industry, I am looking forward to his perspective as we work through that process. Another item is not as streamlined as goal planning but offering guidance on challenges faced at work. Rick shares a very fresh perspective which balances individual awareness to situational reality (i.e., how are you as the client experiencing the actual challenge at work). Rick is astute and catches onto dynamics very quickly so he is able to assess situations -- this is likely the most important skill a career coach can bring to helping with these situations. I am early into this process with Rick and I already feel that his offerings have helped me gain a new perspective on #2 so that I can focus on #1. It's time well spent to invest in yourself within your career and I believe Rick will help compliment that.

We asked UmmahCom to come in for us last minute and take over a list of several thousands contacts we had bought from a data firm. They scrubbed and cleaned those lists, set appointments for our internal salespeople and actually sold some services themselves as well. We look forward to using them on our very next larger campaign.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
