Introduction: I work one-on-one with each student to meet individual needs and goals and to teach at each student's ideal pace. I have 24+ years teaching experience, working with all ages and levels, beginner through advanced.
I enjoy watching each student progress from his/her starting point to being able to read music and play fluently.

Tonya is an excellent piano teacher. She is very patient with my daughter and moves at the pace that keeps Megan challenged and engaged.

Tonya is one of the best piano teachers I have personally worked with.
I have worked with a handful of other piano teachers in the past, attempting to learn the instrument, and several teachers have either gotten irritated with me and said that I did not try, or did not have the patience to try and teach me the right way, and stopped teaching me.
Tonya was good about being both patient and helpful at correcting me with a multitude of errors I experienced in my time as her student.
She was also very good about moving at my pace throughout the lesson. She had a very good feel for what I could handle, and she was good about keeping up when we breezed through the fast sections and also slowing down and providing feedback when we experienced longer, more difficult stretches of a song or hand signature that took me longer to process and understand.
She also has a really great background in the instrument, and she has pointed out many different examples of classical piano music and other styles and songs for the piano that I have never experienced before, which just goes to show how passionately she feels about the instrument!
On top of all that, she was very good about scheduling and being flexible with communication. Because I was commuting from so far away from her town to get lessons, I often had to jump through loops with getting rides from my mom and dad. Also, with my work and schoolwork on top of it all, I had to change the dates and times for lessons with Tonya many, many times. She was very flexible with lessons and was very good about communicating lesson plans and working out scheduling, whether I used email or phone to contact her.
My only personal disappointment with Tonya is that I had to so abruptly end my lessons with her. She was easily the best piano teacher I have ever had, and she has rekindled my love for the piano, and I continue to practice the work she has taught me daily in hope that I can pick up lessons again someday.
I would highly recommend Tonya to anyone who wants to learn the piano, as she is a very talented musician and teacher. Great and easy to work with, and I loved the service she provided me at the reasonable price she offered!

Tonya has been wonderful! I recently took up the piano again as adult following a thirteen year hiatus. Tonya has done a great job helping me remember what I learned previously and filling in the gaps when needed. Tonya challenges me to be a better pianist each week. I greatly enjoy my lessons with her!
