Highly recommend Jake, Jacki, and Titan Roofing! They answered my call and came to my house in the same day. Had a leak that several other roofers were unable to identify and Jake assured me they could fix it for us. He did the work himself (on the Saturday before Easter!!!) and promised us that he could solve our problem. They are responsive, professional, and quick! What a relief to finally find a roofer who could fix our leaky roof. Thanks Jake and jacki!

Highly recommend. We were having a difficult time getting a roofer during their busy summer season to do a small repair job for us. Charles was super responsive and had our roof fixed within 14 hours of my post on Thumbtack! They arrived on time, did the agreed work for the agreed price. Couldn’t be happier. Will definitely use them again.

I cannot believed how honest and ethical Eric is. We had two other roofers come out before him earlier in the day to give estimates. When Eric arrived, he immediately got out his ladder and went up to examine the area of the roof in the front of the house which is where we were experiencing leaking to begin with. We have a 3 story home and cannot see anything from the street level. The other two companies just went out of the 3rd floor window and looked over the back of the roof. As soon as Eric went up on that ladder he discovered the source of our leak. An animal had eaten through the part of the roof that was actually a level area at the bottom of the shingles. He was the first and only one to discover this. He even had the metal flashing and material on hand in his truck to fix the hole. All of the others told us we needed an entire new roof immediately. Eric said that our roof needs to be replaced but we have time to schedule it and that the hole was the source of all our problems. From the moment I first called to inquire, it only took him 1.5 hrs to out to my house and assess the problem. Might I add that he did all of this from 5-6 AT NIGHT. I absolutely trust this man and am so thankful for his honesty.

I had almost given up after contacting several roofing contractors in the area, and thought I would try one more time. Did I ever luck out finding DS FITZ Construction when my house needed a new roof! Ben, one of the partners , was great - came the day after I contacted him, and I immediately felt comfortable with his kind and honest personality, trusted him to pick the color of the shingles, and hired him on the spot and his price was very reasonable. The two roofers, Dave and Gatlin, were also great - very nice, kind, friendly and very comfortable to interact with. As a single woman I usually don't feel comfortable with repairmen that I don't know or haven't been referred to by a friend, but I felt very at ease with them being around my house. They were all wonderful to work with, hard workers and did great work, and all three of them really went above and beyond. The new roof looks really nice and adds so much to the curb appeal. Excellent and awesome experience - will use them again if my new place ever needs a roof, and will recommend them to anyone and everyone I know who needs a roof. Could not have been a better experience!!

Our roof became damaged due to a bad storm. Jason came out right away and patched the roof so it would not leak. He put us on his schedule for a new roof. Jason gave us a good price, comparing to other roofers. Within a short time he had our new roof installed. They did a really good job and we are very happy with the outcome. They cleaned up really well after completing the job. We will be hiring them for future jobs!

Kevin is a very knowable roofer. He gives you options as to what type of roof that you would want and prices according. Even when issues arise he takes care of business to make sure that the customer is satisfied. One of the few good people in the construction industry. I would recommend Kevin to anybody.

Adam was very courteous and professional! He sealed my roof and the leak stopped! The previous roofer estimated replacing that section of the roof and estimated $900!!! Adam saved me a ton of money!!! I highly recommend him!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
