We had a great experience with Dan and Tami as videographers. I was completely naive in hiring such a company, and they provided excellent and professional services (both filming and editing). They arrived in a timely manner, cleaned up the interview area, and provided a finished product in a timely manner. We had a tight schedule and they were able to accommodate our needs on short notice. I can recommend this group without reservation.

James shot our wedding on October 9th, 2017. We interviewed several videographers and originally settled on someone else. A couple months before our wedding, we could not get in touch with our videographer and as a result needed to find someone new. We went back to James and he graciously accepted to shoot our wedding. I should note that we had a Monday wedding and James had two weddings to shoot that weekend, one in Wisconsin. Needless to say, his plate was full, but he still accepted. First, he's sucha kind spirit and listens. He understood exactly what we wanted from our wedding video and made us feel so at ease. James always responded in a timely manner. He arrived early on our wedding day and delivered our completed video in the time he originally estimated. While getting ready, James did some interviews which we loved seeing after the wedding. It was so touching to hear what my husband said about me on the morning of the wedding. It's something we'll always cherish. I told James that we wanted a certain style of music and he delivered. We love the time and creativity that went into our completed videos. James even over delivered by providing us a slightly longer video because we had so many special moments! During the wedding, we barely noticed James, in a good way. He was always there but never blocking anyone's view. I can't say enough good things about James. We see him as a professional, a dedicated artist, and a kind human. As for pricing, James is VERY reasonable for the product he delivers. For us, time was an important factor. We really wanted someone to cover about 10 hours and James was the only person who was willing to do that without nickel and diming us by the minute. We highly recommend to James to anyone looking for a videographer for any special event. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

We used Marjo MEDIA to capture the first time that our oldest daughter met our youngest in the hospital. Marjo MEDIA gave us beautiful photos that brought us to tears. They captured all of the love, joy, and wonder on our oldest daughter's face as she held her sister for the first time. One particular picture is blown-up on a canvas and will hang on our wall for always. Marjo MEDIA also photographed our youngest daughter's baptism and once again the photos are ones that we will treasure forever. Marjo MEDIA photographers were kind, fun, sensitive to our wishes and super good at what they do!

We had no intentions of hiring a videographer for our wedding until friends told us that we wouldn't regret it. Morgan did not disappoint. She spent the entire day with us capturing so many little details. Our highlight video is impressive and something we will forever cherish. We know our full feature video will be just as nice. Morgan is responsive and worked with us to create a perfect package. If you're considering hiring a videographer, you will not go wrong with Morhart Media.

John was great. More than once I heard people say how hard he was working - my dad in particular was quite impressed with his ability to capture everything but still stay well off to the side. My photographers loved him, and said that he was the nicest, and probably easiest videographer to work with that they have ever encountered. We have yet to see the finished footage from the wedding, but I am more than certain it will be wonderful. Overall, we are very pleased to this point and thankful that he could come out and capture our special day!

We had a difficult time finding a videographer for our 5/28/16 wedding because we wanted an unedited video. We went out of our comfort zone with looking on thumbtack. We spoke to Jake and he was very receptive with the type of video we wanted and he was very timely with getting back with us to discuss our next steps. He showed up very early the day of our wedding to get familiar with the surroundings. We were very satisfied with the finished product. Our wedding video was everything we dreamed it would be. You would not go wrong with booking Jake for your special day!

From start to finish, OPUS was one of our absolute favorite wedding vendors. They were extremely accommodating, professional and friendly. Joe was our day to day contact and responded to emails immediately every time, which was greatly appreciated when wedding planning and managing a lot of vendors! Alejandro was our day of videographer and he won the hearts of our entire wedding party and family members. He was so much fun and kept everyone feeling relaxed and natural around the camera. He worked so well with our photographer and captured the best shots of the day without a doubt. Last but not least - our wedding video is absolutely stunning. Everyone that has viewed it is completely amazed by the quality and the amount of incredible moments OPUS captured. We have watched it hundreds of times and still have not gotten tired of it. We highly recommend OPUS as your wedding videographer - when I tell you we interviewed A LOT, we did - and we couldn't be happier to have landed with them!

Scott helped out my husband and I by serving as our wedding videographer. We were married at the Rockford Plantation this past christmas. Our wedding was a mid-morning ceremony followed by a lunch reception. Scott and his partner, Doug, were there with us as we got ready early in the morning through till the end of the reception! Scott is incredibley kind, patient and talented! He met with us prior to the wedding to discuss the details that each of us was hoping for in a wedding video. He offered several wonderful suggestions about what he thought would appeal to our tastes, our relationships' story and the theme of the wedding. Each of his ideas beautifully complemented us and the holiday theme that we were focusing on for our wedding! Scott was at the venue with us the day before during the rehearsal to prepare himself for the next day. He was kind enough to accompany me to the salon, very early the morning of the wedding! I'm sure all weddings have their own chaos but our seemed to have a lot! Scott rolled with every minute of it, even offering encouragement when things didn't quite go according to plan. He was even kind enough to take some photos for us after our photographer had left for the day! The feature he created for us was outstanding! We are so pleased to have such a beautiful representation of our wedding that we can share with our family in the future. He did an amazing job and was very timely about it as well. We were absolutely blown away with the product and we highly recommend his services to anyone! Thank you Scott!!!!

Ticranium Videos recorded some of my live musical performances at Chaplin’s in Spring City, PA. Erik is very talented and professional videographer. The recording and video editing services he provided were performed in a high quality fashion and delivered in timely manner. Rates were affordable. Erik went above and beyond to isolate the best portions of my performances and highlight those during editing phase.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
