I found Mike 's work to be right on point. He power washed and painted my 3 decks outback. He was very flexible with meeting me for payment. Returned my messages when I had questions. Was always on time. Had no problem when I wanted him to check an extra area. I would definitely recommend him for future work that other interested parties may need him for. I will be using his services for my mother in the future.

Outstanding work, professional quality. Completely upfront with costs and turnaround time, and delivered as promised. Excellent job painting our shutters and removing/reinstalling them without a hitch. Even made sure not to trample our flowers with his ladder. Thanks, Randy!

I have had the good fortune to have Joe work on my personal and investment properties. He has done everything from putting down laminate flooring to putting in new faucets, locks, putting up curtains and painting. He is meticulous in his work and leaves the property as clean as he found it. I continue to use him and would recommend him Highly

Great work, fair prices, professional service! What a great experience! I had a leak in my rubber roof. They showed up for the estimate and work promptly and even when running a few minutes late, I was notified. While they were on the roof, they didn't just do the job, they looked for any other issues and made recommendations. I have already had them clean the gutters, do maintenance on my shingle roof and a small tile repair project. I will definitely use them again.

Alex is great, he has done light fixtures, doors, patching, painting, trim work, he is the best. On several occasions I was in a real jam, like with my garage door and he came over same day to fix. He is honest and his pricing is very fair and he is willing and able to do any size job.

Not only did they discuss my project with me at a very late hour, answering the phone when most people would have their voicemail on, but understanding the urgency that was needed to complete the project, AND finishing the project ahead of time AND giving me a break on the price that was agreed upon !!! Now THAT'S SUPER SERVICE !!! Would recommend him to ANY AND EVERY ONE. Thanks !!!!! ALL within 18 hours !!!!! the odds are a million to one that someone responds so quickly and completes the project, but Randy's Painting Service has me as a customer for life! And I'll tell anyone that'll listen. Thanks again!!!!!

Tom and his guys did a nice job installing electrical outlets, insulation, and a drop ceiling in my basement. He immediately corrected any issues I had (all minor). He left the work area clean.

Top notch is the best review I can give to Jippy's painting. As a homeowner and a previous owner of a house rehabbing business, I have dealt with hundreds of painters. Kevin was prompt and accurate on his estimate. More importantly his work was efficient, not rushed, and probably the cleanest paint job I've ever seen.

A job done above and beyond what I was expecting. The job ended up being more work than anticipated, but, Rich went out of his way to make sure it was completed. Including doing a few things not in his job description, such as helping to move some furniture and helping me to find a specific paint color that we ran out of. I love the work he did, the work ethic that he brought with him to the job, and would absolutely recommend him and hire him again myself if needed!

John refaced and painted our bottom cabinets and replaced our top cabinets with ones that went to the ceiling and have beautiful molding. His prices were extremely fair and the end result was a custom and beautiful kitchen transformation. John's work ethic and professionalism was equally impressive. He met the specified timelines and was very clean. I would unhesitatingly recommend John to anyone taking on a cabinetry project.

Chris and his "A" team (Matt & Corey) earn 5 stars for their work performed at my home. I have had several jobs (room painting, kitchen cabinet painting with new handles, and a bathroom remodel) done by PHS and am completely satisfied. I love my kitchen cabinets which were wood; PHS painted the cabinets creamy white and replaced the handles for a fresh updated look. My most recent job was a bathroom remodel which included a tub removal to install a walk in shower which came out beautiful. The tile work was phenomenal!! Chris is very knowledgeable and oversees all the jobs. I already have my next job planned to have the "A" team come back.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
