Garbage disposal installation. We ran into some issues because Marty was nice enough to come on a Sunday, but had limited access to some of the plumbing pipes because the original owner of my house had damaged the pipes. He did fantastic. Went out of his way to make sure everything worked perfect. Even made an additional visit to make sure everything was still working perfectly. I'm looking forward to working with him again when I need work done. Hopefully he'll be happy to work with us again too!

Quick response and even showed up on a Sunday to perform a dryer vent cleaning which included removing a birds nest at the end of the vent. Very professional and even helped me by screwing a new dryer vent cover in when they were finished. I will definitely hire them again.

I had ben and Brandon out this morning for a duct cleaning after moving into a new place. The previous owners had cats and the inside of the ducts looked down right fuzzy and disgusting. bem and dean arrived on time, and hustled, getting our entire system cleaned and sanitized in about 1.5 hours. Fantastic experience, I'll be calling them back for my next cleaning and recommending them to everyone I know.

I don't usually write reviews but our experience with Air Duct cleaning solutions was the best! The technicians were professional and made sure they explained everything before they started. The owner even stopped by to introduce himself and ask if we had any questions. We have never dealt with a more efficient company. Everything was left as clean as before they arrived or cleaner. We were thrilled with the job they did, will use them again and recommend them highly. Seeing the before and after condition of our ducts was amazing. A wonderful job all the way around by a great company!

Where do I begin? Benny EXPERTLY replaced my residential heating unit, fixing my 3 previous HVAC guys' mistakes and shortcuts in the process, the biggest of which was a huge condensation problem slowly destroying my chimney, this without the need of installing an expensive chimney liner ☺. And when he discovered air being vented over fiberglass house insulation - a big no-no - he spent at least 3-4 hours removing the insulation at no extra charge, just to do the job right, and because of his concern for our health. He also installed a central AC unit at the same time, which I LOVE. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the extra intake adjustable vent he suggested and installed near the unit in the basement, which recirculates cold/cool air from the basement to the rest of the house when I open this vent and run the fan only function on the unit, cooling the house on those warm not hot days, making the need of running the actual AC unit often unnecessary and saving me $$$. And after he reconfigured the duct work some, so that the reusable hepa filters he provided to us fit snugly in the system, our allergy symptoms immediately became a thing of the past ☺☺☺. He also asked me what kind of thermostat I would like, and installed the perfect thermostat for me, and also color-coordinated it to my decor no less. Beautiful! I love it. And when my water heater recently gave up the ghost, Benny rearranged his schedule to replace it asap, along with adding shut-off valves going to the water heater (perfect), another expert installation of another fine quality unit, these jobs WELL WORTH their very reasonable costs...I've never written a review before for anything, but felt compelled to sing Benny's praises. From now on he's the only HVAC/plumber for me. Do not think twice!

Frank did a great job repairing my dryer. He was able to give a reasonable diagnosis of the problem and a quote to make the repair over the phone. When I hired him he did come out and confirm the issue and the quote before ordering any parts. He was very punctual, friendly and professional. I thought he charged a fair price and the dryer is working great. I would highly recommend his services.

Ozon air duct cleaning was amazing! I’m glad we booked with them. Our technician, Dan, called before to confirm the appointment, arrived on time and he was very professional. Explained me everything during the process and showed me before and after pictures. That was amazing difference! Now I can feel the clean air in my house, thank you! Would hire them again!

Great service by Manny Refrigeration, he and his crew were professional as can be. He gave an affordable estimate and did a great clean job. His crew showed up on time and worked hard throughout the day, they made sure to put blankets and tarp all over the floors to not scratch anything or leave a mess. My AC and heater work great, i couldn't of asked for better service

Had Ryan out for a routine cleaning and heater check up. He was the best price I found and they did a great job. While servicing the unit I discussed an issue with the heat reaching a particular room, after looking at the unit he quickly diagnosed the issue, showed me why the part was faulty, and informed me what the cost was to replace. We had them back out the following week to replace the part and again their service was impeccable. I would highly recommend them and will use them in the future for any of our HVAC needs.

We had unexpected water damage that needed to be taken care of immediately. DG Home Improvement came out immediately to assess the damage and had a quote for us within hours, offering to start the repairs the next day! Their price was very fair, they finished the work before expected and you would have never known we had any water damage. They also did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. We would highly recommend them

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

  • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
  • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
  • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
  • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
  • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
  • Ductwork properly protected.
  • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

  • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
    • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
    • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
    • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
  • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
  • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
