I had the pleasure of working with Allison, she came to my house and gave me cooking lessons. She was very patient and fully explained everything she did. I learned so much from these lessons. Sherrill came to my home and cooked dinner for me and my elderly parents twice a week for a few months to help me out as I could not get home until later. She created some original dishes from what was in the fridge or made a specific recipe, depending on if something was requested or not. The food was always tasty and well prepared. And she cleaned up the kitchen afterward!

Got my parents in home cooking lessons for Christmas and they were incredibly pleased with the experience. They said they would no doubt have him back!

About

I cook all types of food -- soul food, authentic Mexican, and Italian. I also bake cakes and pies. Whatever you like to learn how to make, I can definitely teach as well.

About

Do you have too much on your plate to even make a plate of food? I love cooking and caring for others. I specialize in personal chef services with a focus on healthy, affordable meal ideas. I'm also a certified personal trainer and enjoy helping people reach their health goals through fitness as well. I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2012 with a degree in human services, my focus being nutritional counseling. Immediately after graduation, my internship at Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids hired me as their program coordinator, where I had the wonderful opportunity to teach kids about vegetable gardening in dozens of Delaware elementary schools. Growing and cooking with fresh food is my passion. If you would like you and your family to eat healthier but don't have time to do meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking and cleanup, then look no further!

About

I teach cooking lessons such as how to make a week's worth of meals in an afternoon, cater, and bartend. I'll also teach you how to feed your child more vegetables by incorporating them into their favorite foods and how to get them involved in the kitchen. I'll work around your skill set, while teaching you cooking basics!

About

I am a professional and certified chef providing catering, cooking lessons and event planning. I also offer pastries, appetizers, and setup and cleanup.

About

We are two women who do it all. Let us bartend or cook for your next event. We set up and breakdown -- there will be no cleanup for you.

About

I worked in the grocery and meat business when I was very young. I've owned and ran a catering business for 18 years. I have a family of 4 and have cooked for the family for over 15 years. When it comes to cooking it's all about timing.

About

I love to cook and baking is my specialty! I spent 13 years working in at The Chocolate Gallery Cafe' in the Detroit Metropolitan area. We served breakfast and lunch during the day. At night, we catered high-end food to many upscale clients, as well as weddings and other events. My specialty is baking. The desserts I developed and made were the first place award-winning desserts that were often sold to other restaurants, country clubs and coffee houses in the area. Since moving to Pennsylvania in 2013, I am currently a garde manger at The Hill School.

About

I am a culinary professional with a strong passion for the field in which I have worked my entire life. I love teaching others how to cook and passing on my skills, and I also enjoy side work, such as small caterings. Hours and rates vary, as they will need to be flexible around my work schedule.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
