Reliable, responsive and reasonably priced. I contacted A.D.A.D. for a quote on some minor concrete work for an exterior garage wall. Bill came out and gave me a very reasonably priced quote and we scheduled to have the job completed the following week. Before the work was scheduled to start, I also discovered I had a leak in my roof, with water coming into a bedroom clothes closet. I called Bill and he was able to come out right away to assess the situation. Luckily it was a minor repair and he was also able to complete that on the same day as the wall work. It is virtually impossible to find a good contractor. I am really glad I found A.D.A.D and already have other projects planned.

Keller Construction has done four repairs on four different roof and siding jobs of mine. He had to repair a leaking slate roof and a leaking flat roof and replace an old flat roof and leaking siding on dormers in three different properties. He did an excellent job on all four roofs in a highly competent, efficient and professional manner. In addition to providing a top notch professional job, he charged a more than fair and reasonable price. Sherman Keller is a nice, honest, personable man that genuinely cares about his customers, their homes and providing high quality work. You just can't say that anymore, about the majority of contractors. If you want someone you can trust, who will give you a very reasonable price and deliver the quality job promised, Keller Construction is who you want to hire. I have rental properties in Montgomery County, Delaware County and New Jersey and he is now my "Go To Man" for all my roofing and siding jobs!

Anthony was so quick to respond and get out to give us a very reasonable quote. He was able to coat the roof while he was there and will come back to put another coating on after the snow storm. I will definitely hire this company again in the future!

Without a doubt, Bill Hart exceeded all of my expectations. He contacted me just minutes after I submitted my request. He came out the next day to give me an estimate which was very reasonable for all the work I needed. (I got a new rubber roof and two skylights.) Bill is knowledgeable and professional but most of all, he was genuinely concerned about getting my job done before I had any additional damage. It was a pleasure to deal with Hart Home Improvements.

Incredible service, came out right away and on time to the minute. Did an emergency repair patch of a large hole in the roof immediately. Was able to replace my entire roof within a couple days. He started and finished on right on time. He suggested a beautiful color shingle - my house looks better than it has in years! Joseph at JCF Construction was incredible. From start to finish he was hands on. Our Roof job was completed in a day, mess completely gone. They left our property better than it was. He was professional and treated me as like I was a long time friend. I will definitely use his company again and will recommend him to all of my friends and family!

A few months after purchasing our first home (an older rehabbed home), we begin to notice leaks inside two neighboring window frames. We reached out to several companies but were told the job was either "too small" OR that we needed to replace our ENTIRE roof ($$$) before attempting to fix the current problem (literally we got estimates from $75 to $30K). This left me pretty frustrated and stressed, I wanted to figure out what was causing the current leak then plan for what was potentially a larger project. After nearly two weeks of searching, we found Philadelphia City Roofing! They came out earlier than expected, gave me a reasonable estimate, and was willing to make suggestions about breaking my larger roof project into manageable parts. A few hours after they completed initial work, there was a significant rain. So far no leak! Their integrity, attention to detail and solutions-oriented approach make me excited about continuing to work with this company.

I give my highest recommendation to Jake Esh and his team. Polite, professional, prompt - followed through on each and every detail of the project. The workmanship on my Trex deck is the best that I've seen. Not a single screw, fastener or flaw can be seen. The attention to detail was superb. Jake explained every option of each detail for approval prior to moving ahead with the work. He also fixed a roof leak that has been plaguing our house since we moved in - and did so at a very reasonable price. We had some good choices in deck builders as we conducted our search, but now that the project is completed we are convinced that we definitely made the right choice with Stoney Ridge Home Improvements. We'll be asking them back this spring to look at our other renovation projects we have planned.

My roof was damaged in several areas, my chimney was falling apart and the flashing was completely missing from around my chimney area. After learning that my roof was not repairable, I called Vincent at Diamond Restoration. Vincent agreed that I was better off replacing the roof because repairing it would only be a temporary fix for a roof that would need replacement in a few years. Vincent took the time to go over everything with me in detail so I understood exactly what needed to be done. I was also happy that his company could perform the masonry work on my chimney. He had a crew come out before the roof was put on to fix the chimney which turned out great. Several days later, his crew came out and efficiently put on my new roof. I had some unexpected damaged to the plywood underneath the shingles and Vincent had his crew rip off and install all the new plywood along with the entire roof in one day. His crew cleaned everything up and the roof looked great! Vincent came back himself to make sure everything was done properly. He even adjusted my downspouts to have the water run into my existing gutters so the roof wouldn't have water constantly dripping down on it from the downspouts. All in all, I was extremely happy with the work and felt Vincent did everything he could to make this a positive experience.

It was a pleasure dealing with Alec and AV Contracting. He immediately came out when I first contacted him to replace the roof on my Shed that was almost thirty years old. His price was competitive and well within my budget. He showed me different samples as well as made recommendations for the type of shingles and capping I should replace the roof with and venting for the roof/shed. Most important, the job/roof when completed what excellent - Meticulously installed with impressive installation. It took him one day to complete the job. Another note, that impressed me was that Alec was friendly and approachable. No matter when I called or text him, he was happy to assist me or answer any questions. When I replace the roof in my house, I will not bother contacting any one else- Alec and AV Contracting have my business in the future.

We found out one morning that our roof had damage from a storm over night. James came out that same day. Looked at our roof, told us he could be out the next day if the rain held off enough and gave us a quote. We booked him and he was out the next day to repair it. He took pictures and sent them to us (it was a 3 story house) in case we needed them. He was very polite, professional, and did and amazing job in a very timely manner. We would definitely hire him again for future jobs and would recommend him to anyone who needs roof work done!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
