"She was nice, but not professional at cleaning at all. It was a cleaning before moving in. She only spent less than 1.5 hours in my 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. The previous tenant has already cleaned the apartment to some extend. I told her to mainly focus on the kitchen and bathrooms, and mop the hardwood floor. She definitely didn't moo the floor, neither did her cleaned the kitchen. I guess she only moped the bathtubs and two toilets. This was the worst cleaning I've ever hired and would not hire her again. Do not recomend."

"So thorough and prompt! She was a lifesaver. I needed last minute cleaners for a move out and the five star ratings did not disappoint! They went over everything multiple times and left the place like new. If I were staying in the Pittsburgh area and not moving, I'd have her come more regularly. Great value for the peace of mind and professionalism. Highly recommend!"

"There were some things that were not addressed by the crew, however, they were prompt - and the young lady cleaned the bathroom better than I ever could! Overall it was worth the money but I found a lot of missed areas around the house I ended up cleaning myself later..."

"I have had maids all my life back in India, but this was the first time I was booking a maid in US so I was very skeptical in making a choice. Thankfully there were tons of good reviews for Anna and I was impressed by her responsiveness on thumbtack before I booked her. Before her visit, she asked me about the type of floors my apartment had and assured me that she will be getting all the cleaning liquids. All I offered her was a broom. This was especially helpful for me since I do not keep special cleaning liquids and did not want to buy them either. The first thing that impressed me was that Anna was right on time. Infact, I had booked her for 10:00 AM and I heard the knock on the door at 9:56 AM. I hadn't cleaned the stove in about 6 months, and I had used it very heavily, the same applied to some other parts of the apartment. There was no way that that could be cleaned, but Anna worked super duper hard. The poor lady spent like 2 hours cleaning the kitchen and after that the stove shined, I could literally see my face in it. Anna was really energetic and fast. The entire apartment took about 4 hours, which is about what I expected. The entire apartment has never been this clean, even when my roomate and I moved in, it wasn't as clean. I was so impressed that I immediately reffered her to another friend too. Thank you anna for the awesome service!"

"Organized Interiors was a life saver! We had other cleaners that did a horrible job (not from thumbtack) and on a Sunday night at 9PM I contacted Organized Interiors and they not only calmed me down and reassured me they would get the job done, they rearranged their schedule so they could come out to my daughters home and get there before the moving company came!! I can't say enough about this family team and how kind and confident they were. The house looked amazing, the price was wonderful, and I feel like I met a friend that I can count on whenever I would need them!!! Would highly recommend! The deep clean was efficient and fast!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

How much does a move-out cleaning cost?

Moving is hard enough work even before you have to clean the empty home to perfection. Instead of scrubbing your tile grout with a toothbrush, hire a professional cleaning company to provide move-out cleaning services for you. For moving out of an apartment, cleaning prices can range from $110 to $150. When scheduling a move-out cleaning, talk with the pro and confirm all the key points they will clean to ensure you receive your deposit back.

Important areas to have cleaned include the fridge interior, the oven interior, bathroom tile, the shower and tub, all blinds, and sometimes the walls. Some cleaning companies do not quote a flat rate for a move-out cleaning, as the number of hours it may take to clean structurally identical apartments could vary greatly depending on how clean or dirty the inhabitants were. For example, move-out house cleaning prices may range from $150 to $180 for one- or two-bedroom apartments.
