In late November we acquired a young black lab mix to foster. Rosey was a nipper for the first month she was with us. In late December Sunghee came to our rescue thanks to Lulus Rescue. She came twice a week and gave us insights into Roseys behavior and provided us with strategies to channel her energy in a positive direction. She also provided us with extensive modeling of games, such as tug-of-war, to play with Rosey. We learned with Rosey verbal cues to curb her nipping. Within a couple of weeks we began to see a change in Roseys behavior and our way of interacting with her. Thanks to Sunghee, we began to enjoy our time with Rosey more, and at the time of her adoption, we were actually sad to see her go, although happy for Rosey that she was moving to a perfect placement. Even the day of the adoption, Sunghee generously came to our house to initiate Roseys new owner in the training practices we have been using. We were confident that Rosey would make a wonderful pet for her new family because we saw how much she had settled in the last month. Sunghee is a dedicated woman who obviously loves dogs. She is infinitely patient with animals (and humans) and knowledgeable about breed traits and remedies for misbehaviors. She is focused and gentle, but firm, in her teaching and provides excellent feedback and advice. It was a pleasure to work with Sunghee.

Sunghee and her dog training methods at Placid Paws were an invaluable resource for me. While I have had dogs before, my current dog is a Bouvier des Flandres possessing un-bounding energy and a strong will. I was desperate for help so that he would become a well-mannered dog. As much as Charlie needed training, I think I was really the one who needed to be trained. The minute I met Sungee and watched her with Charlie I knew all would be well. Watching Sungee using gentle yet firm commands and demonstrating various methods helped me become a better dog owner. Her methods are easy to imitate and very effective. I can't say enough how grateful I am to have met Sunghee and have had the privilege of her working with Charlie and me.

Sunghee is an amazing trainer! She was a lifeline when our foster developed aggressive behaviors that were very intense. She helped us feel like we could manage the dog and get a handle on the situation. She is very patient, well informed, and clearly has a wonderful rapport with dogs. She gave us techniques that helped to lower his overall energy and manage negative behaviors and he has truly transformed for the better. She spends a lot of time working at the dogs pace, aligning the training with what the dog and you are capable of, and every lesson gave us homemade, easy to follow reading materials to refer to and new techniques to work on. Every lesson we also practiced the techniques together, so I felt more confident and made sure I felt comfortable using the techniques and applying them to everyday situations. If we could give more than five stars, we would.

My little cavapoo, Tilda LOVES Sunghee. Tilda looks forward to her training sessions, and is learning quite a bit. Sunghee is very innovative, she is always learning and using ways to help her communicate and train dogs, which makes her a very effective trainer. Sunghee has a way with animals that is special and wonderful to watch!

We offer different programs that suit your needs the best. Programs consist of in-home private lessons, dog-only day training, virtual group classes.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's.degree in Animal Behavior from Linkoping University in Sweden, Dog Training Foundation Certificate from International Association for Canine Professionals. I stay up to date with constant education by attending seminars and workshops.
