Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Our work stands out because we have very knowledgeable and educated employees. We do high quality work at a lower price than the average company like ours. We also allow our customers to enjoy the wholesale cost of the materials being used on their project by allowing them to pay our contractors price for them. We also except no money down and do not ask for payment until your job is complete. I love working outside. I love all aspects of hard work and satisfied customers. I know that my finished product brings a smile to somebody's face. Knowing that I make people's homes safer makes me happy. I also like the appearance improvement aspect of my work. I love being able to drive past a finished product and being able to smile and say I did that job.

I posted an ad to Craigslist for what I thought was going to be flashing repair to a chimney, turns out the entire side of the roof I could not view was in terrible shape. Needed to be replaced. MGC contacted me and I recieved a bid from them and about 5 other companies. What sold me on what they do is I paid for my materials with no markup and labor cost was well in line with industry for my area, but the hook was the ability to communicate. Gema and Scott know that communication is the fabric to weaving a good business and a solid deal/experience for the customer. I have already reffered them to a close family member as well as having them back to do a 4" plumbing stack conversion from cast to ABS. The job they did on my first roof was outstanding work and super clean after the entire roof was torn off. 14 sq of shingles later its beautiful. They also capped a pigeon box that flashing had come off on and secured the gutters better as well as cleaned them out. I own 12 rental homes at this time and I KNOW I will be using them again in the future.

Beware! I hired this company to perform work on my Southside Pittsburgh home end of June/beginning of July of this year. First off they did not complete the work as requested. Secondly three weeks after finishing the work (approximately 100 times with no response. They only answered once, when they promised to go fix the problem that week. After they did not fix it as promised they never again answered any of my communication. They are unethical and unreliable. Now I have to go through doing a claim with the Attorney General and/or a small claims lawyer to try to get this resolved. Please do not put yourself through the hassle of working with Scott and his wife Gema Kun (who is the company manager). Their numbers are 412-979-2897 and 724-541-7030. They are scam artists that do poor work and leave honest, paying customers out in the cold. I have told them repeatedly in messages to just please fix what they promised and I would be happy but they refuse to answer any of my calls. Again, you have been warned. I hope my bad experience helps you.

BEWARE. This contractor was late getting started on the project and never completed the project. The project was started but the contractor failed to return and complete the work. I tried to contact him several times to work out a resolution. The contractor would seem interested in completing the project; we scheduled meetings to discuss completion for which he never showed up. Eventually, he refused to return calls, text messages, answer voicemails or emails. Legal action was required, as MGS was paid a deposit and additional money requested. A ruling was granted in our favor.
MGS Contracting's reply
What this person fails to tell you is that the only money paid was the money for the work completed. Also he was told that we would be on vacation during the completion of his project and agreed anyways. Once we could not be reached while we were on a vacation several states away he became angry. He filed legal action and was awarded more than double what he paid ONLY because we were unable to defend ourselves due to prior commiments and yes there is an appeal in the works.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Yes and we require it of our employees also. We stay up on all of the CertainTeed continuing education and testing.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We do many roofs, but we also do much more. The thing that I believe sets us apart from other contractors is that one of our trained professionals will come out to give our customer an estimate, at that time we also sit down and go over each and every aspect of thier project with them. In that time we also go over each item that will be needed to complete the job and its cost, there are no surprises with us. We also give our customers the option to purchase thier own materials and pay us for our labor when the job is complete. Therefore no money changes hands until our customer is happy with the completed project.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best advice I can give a person looking to hire a contractor is to verify insurance, talk to references, look at other jobs that we have completed, and take the time to get to know us a little before you make your final decision. We like to think that we treat all of our potential clients as we would treat friends and family. My belief is I want my employees to treat my customers the way I would expect another company to treat my parents.
