Last year I completed a Dental office in Devon, PA. l did not want it to feel like every other "Doctors office",cold and uninviting. I wanted it to feel warm, homey and to look like an old factory that was renovated into a loft space. I had the floor done in a commercial grade composite that looked like natural dark wood planks. I had stacked stone columns placed throughout the space (to look like existing support columns) with walls in between. The cabinets were covered in a faux grey bamboo material with grey and terracotta colored granite counters. I placed grey wood window boxes in the deep window sills with ivy growing down the walls. The art on the walls in between the columns is oversized and modern. The office is warm, inviting and very unpredictable. The contractor that the client hired (his business was building dental offices) was use to doing the typical office and complained about my choices to the client throughout the entire process. He kept saying "this is not a house". Lets just say he was self-righteous and very closed minded. Funny thing though, when the office was completed, he asked the client if he could bring his potential new clients to see her office and show "his" work. He's passing it off as his design. Some people might be upset by this but even though I think he was a jerk to work with, I took it highly as a compliment.
