K. Artist did an awesome job at our event. She was early, took care with each child to make sure they got the face-painting they wanted and made sure each child saw the end product and was happy with their results. I highly recommend her services. She is professional and her work is incredibly well done.

Shonta and her company Indigo Blooms have far exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment we met Shonta, we knew that she would take great care of us!!! From planning to execution, Shonta was truly there for us every step of the way! Shonta, while remaining professional, shared in our excitement for our wedding day. Communication was never an issue and Shonta truly brought our visions to life! I would DEFINITELY hire Shonta again for any floral services OR planning service I may need in the future. Thank you Shonta for your beautiful arrangements, decor, and attention to every single detail!!! We are truly blessed to have found you! :)

We used Dayna's Party Rental for our grand re-opening (6/14/16) which hosted over 250 people. We couldn't be more happy with the level of service, the quality of the products rented, and the pricing we received. Lenny was absolutely amazing. He shared our vision and made the event planning pleasurable and, most importantly, less stressful. He responds to voice mails and emails almost instantly. I highly recommend him (and his company) for all of your party needs. You will not be disappointed.

I love how Stephanie and her team took my design and vision and executed it wonderfully. And she also injected her ideas which worked well with my design. They set it all up and broke it down which proved to be a lifesaver. I am such a Type A, "need to control" everything kind of person who does party planning myself, but I felt comfortable releasing the reins to Stephanie on my wedding day. She even came to my rehearsal and helped with ideas. She even spruced up the bathroom for guests which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend Everything is an Event and I would definitely use their services again. The only thing I would say is that the flow of events were a little off. There were a few people in the wedding party that felt that Stephanie could have been a little more hands on with controlling certain things instead of just responding to issues. Also, when the items such as linens, centerpieces, candles, etc. were broken down, they were just placed in any of the storage containers instead of the way they came to the venue. The only issue with that is re-packing everything for storage. But it is a minor thing. Overall, like I said, it was great working with Stephanie and her team and I would definitely use their services again. THANKS STEPHANIE AND EVERYTHING IS AN EVENT!!!

I've worked with many florists, and Lorelei exceeded them all. Her vision, her thoughtfulness, her quick response time, and her care were all outstanding. When our venue had some last minute rain, she quickly repurposed our patio florals to turn indoor space into something special. She translated all of our "likes" into just what worked best for our space and maximized all of our best ideas. Lorelei stayed until our event began to make sure every petal, every bouquet and boutonniere was perfect. She also fabricated boxes and branches for us, some of our unique requests, that nobody else would do. Floral and Events by Design is a service I would use again and recommend freely.

Dear Kate, It’s quite difficult to put into words just how grateful we are to you and just how valuable you were during the entire wedding & planning process. I will do my best! From the moment we connected I had zero doubt that you would be the most important addition to our vendor squad but even then it seemed like somewhat of a luxury vs. necessity. I was wrong. After we chose our venue, I remember you asking me if we still neeed you. The venue seemed to provide everything one would need as far as timeline and coordinating for our big day. I wasn’t about to let you go that easy! I knew I would still need someone there as Rob and I’s advocate for the day. Wasn’t that the truth?! During the process, you were always available. Whether to answer questions or even just to expose me to the wonderful and addicting world of wedding podcasts 😂 game changing, btw. You tolerated my “spreadsheets within spreadsheets”, maybe slightly unnecessary micromanaging haha (?) In the short weeks prior it was CRYSTAL CLEAR that you were irreplaceable. When I saw you had reached out to all our vendors to establish yourself as their point person, that alone was such a big deal to me. The day I got that email, I was running a fever and feeling like it was the worst time to fall ill. With so much to do and so many people to be following up with, I was feeling so flustered. What a relief it was to know you had it handled. This brings me to the day of our rehearsal. The wedding venue, essentially a wedding factory, that we thought had a handle on EVERYTHING, didn’t even have their coordinator there to be present for the rehearsal?!!! The owner had no idea who anyone was and anything that was discussed as far as our vision for the evening. Thank God for you. You took charge as planned and did not let the owner boss you around. You stood up for us and made sure our wedding was exactly as we’d planned. YOU made sure we had a rain plan, thankfully not needed but it definitely came close!! The day of... oh boy. YOU made sure our families were taken care of. YOU fed the band when the venue would not! As rude as the venue was to you and our vendors, YOU handled everything with style and grace. YOU kept me calm with your cool, collected, fabulous self. Everyone in the bridal party, family, and our vendors were so impressed with you. By the end of the night (I apologize for this!) I literally did not want to let you go. No one played a more crucial role in our perfect beautiful incredible happy day than YOU. There is so much more that I’m sure you took care of that we will never even know about. We are eternally grateful. I hope to have to honor of recommending you to any future bride. With love and gratitude, Steph & Rob

Tijania was a pleasure to have as our wedding day of coordinator. With all the stress that comes from the planning it was a relief to hand off the details that day. And the details went smoothly. We had a 6+ inch snow storm the day of our wedding. That didn't stop her from being on time and ready to go. With all the delays in getting our wedding guests to the church and to the reception she handled schedule adjustments and the various vendors making our wedding come of superbly.

I hired Lamide for day of coordination for my daughter’s bridal shower. She was very helpful, responsive and came up with great ideas for games and decorations. She came early to decorate at the venue and even cut the game cards herself to save me money. I would recommend her services for both quality and value.

Maria Franklin is a top notch event planner!! She is professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. We hired her to help plan our corporate Family Fun Day event for approximately 600 employees and guests. The event included tent rentals, children's rides, and a petting zoo and she provided the set up and clean up services. It was the best event our company has had in years!! We shopped around and found her fees very reasonable. We only had 2 months to get the event planned and she stepped in and made it all happen. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish, we couldn't have pulled off this large event without her services. Our company will hire Execute Your Event for our next event!!!

I hired Deserve Your Time to help out with my wedding planning. The consultant I worked with was extremely accommodating and supportive throughout the whole process. I tend to stress easily so I was immediately put at ease once I realized that Deserve Your Time had everything under control. The consultant assisted with almost every step of the planning process, from putting together guests addresses for the invitations to decorations the day of the wedding. I am forever grateful for all of the help I received and I would highly recommend Deserve Your Time services! I know I'll be using them again!

Having Wes officiate our wedding was the easiest and best decision we made for our wedding. My husband and I weren’t quite sure how the ceremony was supposed to flow and Wes provided his recommendations and shared his past experiences. During our meetings, he helped us understand the overall layout and select readings. He worked closely with our good friend to break up the ceremony into the “official” parts and the heartfelt readings/commentary. On the big day he had the room of our family and friends laughing and crying - they all RAVED about him and kept saying it was the best ceremony they have sat through. We can’t thank Wes enough for his support on our big day. Thank you!

Lauren was a godsend when planning our wedding. I was a clueless bride to be not quite sure what was needed, how to do anything, timelines what were they? She was exactly what we needed when wrangling vendors, hunting for decorations and giving some amazing ideas to make our wedding have its own little uniqueness to it. I would talk to Lauren at least three times a week months before the big day and more frequently as the day got closer. She would check in with us, following up to ensure that we were on task. (Something that we needed.) Lauren would go beyond what the typical planner would do and actually helped make alot of the decorations herself to help us stay within our tight budget. Her ideas were exactly what I was envisioning for our rustic themed fall wedding from the wheat sheath centerpiece to the barndoors and wine barrel decorations. Absolutely beautiful! She also reached out to our vendors, ensuring that they were on top of their tasks–including providing certificates of insurance and final balances. During the week of the wedding, I’m sure we talked to Lauren more than I spoke to anyone else including family. Lol. Lauren created a timeline and revised it with us as necessary. She followed up with all of our vendors, making sure they knew where to go and when. She told all of the vendors to go through her for those pesky last-minute questions. She kept us very relaxed, and made sure that major and minor details were not forgotten! The day before the reception lauren had her amazing team (friends and family) make sure that all of the reception decor (that she had made herself, almost everything...everything!!) was brought to the venue, and that it all arrived in one piece. Spent hours setting up and making sure that all the decor was put in the right place and was PERFECT! If there was a crisis, I can tell you I know nothing of it. She coordinated the clean-up of the venue, at the end of the night and made sure nothing was left behind. She did all of this while remaining calm with a big smile on her face. I can not say nicer things about her! My wedding day would not have been as amazing as it was with out her...no where near it! I probably would have lost my mind f I had to do all of this by myself. So if you are looking for a wedding planner, party planner, or someone to help you with ideas she is your girl and you will not regret it. FabYouBliss saved my sanity and made my day perfect! Let her do the same for you. Thank you so much lauren!

I highly recommend Mum Design for all of your event decorating needs. Erin supplied the floral arrangements for my Bridal Shower and my Wedding. The arrangements for my shower were fabulous and she used white pumpkins instead of vases for the centerpieces which was a creative surprise! I received numerous compliments on them. For my wedding, she took time and attention to make sure that she was matching the colors, motif and incorporating my favorite flowers to my bouquet and the centerpieces. Her suggestions to enhance the ideas that I had were helpful and elevated what I had envisioned. She even incorporated a photo of my grandmother on my bridal bouquet that I wanted to carry with me on my wedding day. She was prompt and organized in dropping off the flowers before the ceremony and preparing the reception venue on the day of. In addition to her knowledge of flowers, her fun and down to earth personality make her very easy to work with and put your mind at ease during a stressful time of wedding planning. I can not speak highly enough of Erin and strongly encourage you to contact her to discuss you decorate your event. Thank you Mum Design for helping me achieve the wedding of my dreams!

Sharrona did an amazing job planning my wedding reception. I could not ask for a better event coordinator. She explained everything clearly and honestly in regards to the look I was going for and my budget. She found a way to make all of my ideas come together tastefully. She took away the stress of my trying to plan my own wedding. I was extremely overwhelmed when I first started planning but after meeting Sharrona she took all of my anxiety away. I plan to utilize her services again in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

  • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
  • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
  • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
  • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
