There are not enough words to describe the awesome experience I had working with Core Productions. The professionalism, the work ethic and fun work environment created was second to none. Moreover, the quality of the finished product more than met my expectations. ( and I had pretty high expectations!!) The look and feel, sound, editing, cinematography of my video all were an A+! Ash's attention to detail and his caring nature made this experience one that I want to replicate over and over. I will definitely work with Ash and Core Productions again. As a matter of fact, they are now my number one production vendor for all my video and multimedia needs. AWESOME job Core Productions Team!...THANK YOU!! MW Westchester, NY

Working with Gary was excellent. First, he was really responsive to my needs. I was traveling in from out of state and needed a quality corporate videographer with extremely short notice. Gary accommodated me and made everything easy. He arrived ahead of schedule on the day of the shoot and was friendly, professional and courteous. He made it easy for the company to continue operations as if he wasn't even there. And best of all, the quality of the final product is excellent. I would highly recommend Gary to anyone needing reliable, affordable and highest quality professional video services.

I hired John Zimmerman to do a video for my Law Office website. He could not have been more professional. He was extremely easy to work with and had great ideas. He even hired some local actors to be in the video. The finished product is AWESOME. I have had numerous clients tell me they came to me because of my video. I highly recommend Jon Zimmerman.

Working with Angela of Acquainted Wedding Productions was one of the *best* decisions we made while planning our wedding. We chose the package for a highlight video. She was a complete joy to work with from our initial conversation to the last email with the finished video, and was very flexible, professional and punctual throughout the entire process. She made it very easy to contact her when we had questions and delivered the final video faster than we ever expected - all while incorporating our ideas and feedback into the final product. Her vision and style are spot on and she and her assistant captured some of the most beautiful shots of our wedding - we especially love all the little moments they caught that we weren't even aware of at the time. They also caught all the sweetest moments of our vows and the speeches that we are so happy to be able to relive forever. We were even on the fence about having a videographer at all in the beginning stages of wedding planning, but we are so glad we did! The value and her quality of work are top notch. We 100% recommend Acquainted Wedding Productions to any couple looking for a wedding videographer, or even anyone looking to film any special occasion - you will end up with a beautiful video that you'll treasure forever.

Creative Video has produced several high quality animated videos for us over the years that have supported our new product launches. They also created our corporate overview video. Creative Video has been easy to work with, and I recommend their services to others who are looking for high quality at a reasonable price.

Ted Mangan was a Godsend. After reading my book he reached out to me in order to tell my story in the form of a documentary. I had absolutely no money to pay him. And yet, he felt that the world needed to know what happened to me and why. He decided to drive all the way to Chicago from Allentown, Pennsylvania. He asked for nothing more than compensation for gas. If I'm not mistaken he filmed for 2 or 3 days. As if this weren't enough, he worked closely with me during the editing process to make certain I was comfortable with the final project. It took months until the film was completed; but, the finishing project was moving. Ted Mangan gave me an opportunity to tell the world my story. My trial was stolen but thanks to Ted, I had a chance to release sorrow and pain which had haunted me for more than a decade. Ted Mangan is more than a videographer; he is a humane person. It's been a pleasure and honor to know him. Myra K. Richardson

We asked A Better Pic to create a Save the Date video for our upcoming wedding, and we could not be happier with our experience. Lana and her team came out to Philly on relatively short notice to film and worked tirelessly throughout their own vacation (!) to get the video done by our requested date. Lana responded to all my edit requests quickly and graciously, and we're so happy with the final product.

Alex, beautifully filmed and edited our wedding back in April 2016. We couldn't be happier with the top quality of her work and excellent level of professionalism. She jived very well with our two photographers and their apprentice and with our wedding planner as well. All in all, Alex was able to to capture the true essence and feel of our big special day! We are beyond pleased.

About

Kingspy Films is a full-service video production company based out of Philadelphia. The company is known for creating clean, unique and cinematic visuals, including music videos, commercials, promo videos and documentaries. Malik Robinson is the founder/director/editor. Malik Ali Robinson, known as Kingspy, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Malik entered his first video class in high school as an after school program when he was 16. So inspired by the ability of storytelling, Malik begged his mom for a camera that Christmas. He got the camera and began to film his friends doing silly things for fun. He recorded basketball games, talent shows, music videos and short films. What really changed his life and made him want to become a filmmaker was a program with Big Picture alliance, which allowed him to shoot with a $76,000 film camera. This was his biggest accomplishment to date that left him hungry for more. Malik shot and edited his first music video at the age of 17 and has took his passion for filmmaking to a new level at the current age of 23. He has shot tons of music videos for up and coming artists. He also did live shows featuring Big Sean, De La Soul, Wale, Mos Def, Juicy J and Action Bronson. Malik has also managed to have a commercial aired on Comcast networks in Philadelphia. With all these accomplishments under his belt, Malik is still on the quest to become a top director in this industry, and the journey continues.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
