- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My husband has always liked working with hardwood floors. He likes the challenges that refinishing hardwood floors can present. Each floor has its distinctive characteristics. And they are just beautiful to look at when properly maintained. For me, I liked cleaning and the end results, which I did before we had children. After having children I wanted something that would brin in a little extra income and still would allow me to be flexible with the days and hours I would work. To expand I also learned how to sand, refinish and install floors which I truly enjoy doing with my husband who is very good at what he does. And we just both love hardwood floors.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My husband and I did a Move In clean in Cheltenham, Pa. for a house owner who had work done in the home. Most of the rooms needed the walls wiped down and dust removed. It took us two days to complete, but the owner and the mother of the tenant were very happy with our work. The basement has a family room and needed not only cleaning but also furniture rearranged which my husband is very good at doing. He arranged the seating area for the adults in a way that would encourage conversation, and an area nearby for the children to play. They loved it. At any rate when we finished the entire home, everything was clean and smelled pleasant. We were very pleased with everything.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If a customer wants to have their floors sanded and refinished, it is important to provide the square footage and also if there are any stains, such as pet stains or repairs that may be needed. For a site unseen, we can only give a best guess for a quote, there may be issues that must also be addressed with regards to the floors. But, we will do our best to accommodate the customer. With regards to cleaning let us know exactly what they want to have cleaned. For instance, the rooms they want cleaned and if they require basic clean or a deeper clean which would include refrigerator or oven cleaned or even cleaning inside cabinets and if there are any pets, which may also require deep cleaning, particularly if there hasn't been any cleaning for a while. Again, we always try to accommodate the customer so they will be happy when we leave the site. Good communication is necessary for best results.
