"I have had massages from a lot of places but none compare to the massages that I've received from her. By far, she is the best massage therapist around. As a client, you leave your massage feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. She is professional and very knowledgeable. If you have tired, achy muscles or just need to unwind, I highly recommend having her as your masseuse."

"Steven is an excellent massage therapist. He has worked on me several times over the last couple months and I intend to use him again. He is very caring and thoughtful, and works diligently on any problem areas. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable with a new massage therapist, but Steven makes sure you are comfortable with him and puts you at ease. I have gotten massages from many massage therapists and can state that he is at the top of the list. I highly recommend him."

"Cody is a life saver! I had knee replacement surgery 17 days ago and was having horrible pain in my whole leg (except the knee). He came to my house and worked on my leg and helped relax the muscles that were disturbed in the surgery. This morning I was laying on the sofa in tears because the pain in my leg was so bad. An hour with Cody changed all of that. I will now be a weekly customer even after my leg is healed. I cant recommend Cody enough!!!! If you want the best, Cody is for you!!"

"First off, I never write reviews but I really feel compelled to leave one for Golden Heart. I’ve had a few massages in the past but never of this quality and convenience. The overall experience was wonderful. My therapist, Melissa was very flexible and accommodating to my (somewhat whacky) schedule. She was very responsive, prompt, and thorough. She was punctual and very professional. I must say that the convenience of being massaged at home is very underrated. No traffic to worry about, etc. But, the best part of the experience was the massage itself. I have a few health issues which were discussed prior to Melissa beginning work. She was very knowledgeable and conscientious about these issues and worked around them with ease. The massage was the best I have ever had, hands down!!! I felt better instantly and the feeling has lasted to this day (2 weeks later). Thank you soooo much, Melissa..... can’t wait to reschedule!!!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
