My son is a dual sport athlete and finding available time to get his SAT prep in around a demanding schedule was near impossible till we found Allen. Allen worked around his schedule, between school and practices. He came to our house, was professional, prompt and cared about his success, not only on the SAT's but his school work. Allen offered to have him call should he have issue with his chemistry or Calculus homework. Allen showed him techniques that would assist in increasing his SAT score. He worked with my son about 3 or 4 sessions and he had an increase in his overall score of 210 points. I found Allen on Thumbtack and was a little skeptical and leary at first having someone come to our home, but Allen’s professionalism and results speak for themselves.

Michelle is an exceptional Tutor who has helped my son with Math on various occasions. Her approach is very personable, as she takes relatively difficult topic such as Math, and makes it fun and exciting for my son. As a result, I have seen a drastic improvement in his comprehension of the subject. Additionally, she has even taken the initiative to help him with other subjects in his class when there is time left over from her tutoring, and the Math homework is already complete. I strongly recommend Michelle to anyone who is in the market searching for a Tutor with the solid credentials.

Neil Grobman is a great tutor. Neil tutored me in the reading and writing portions of the SAT. We had lessons each week. He introducesd and elaborated on a different topic at each lesson. At the end, Neil assigns word parts and an essay for homework which helped to furthur expand the concepts. Neil made sure that he answers all of my questions and concerns. If he did not know the answer, Neil finds any sources that provides the answer. Neil provides an unique way to boost vocabulary, attack the essay, and complete the passage based questions. I have learned a lot from Neil and I recommend him to anyone in need of a responsible and dedicated tutor.

My son is in 10th grade and a bright boy. However, with ACT tests coming up, we wanted him to reach his highest potential. Through the Chelsea International Getting Into The Ivys test prep program, my son has excelled so much so that he is up to go to Stanford. After doing 6 weeks of private tuition with Dr. Michelle, her patience, understanding and encouragement, has driven my son’s greatest results. He scored 34 on his first time taking the ACT and he had no prior ACT testing experience. I am so impressed and so thankful for the professional experience of Chelsea International.

I was accepted into a university due to Dwight's efforts and more particularly, his way of teaching. Dwight helped me (I had just got out of the marines and had not been in high school in 4 years) to learn how to THINK. Yes, he taught me formulas, science and how things work, but more importantly he taught me how to THINK. It was hard getting back in a school mindset. My acceptance to college was based on an ACT score I hadn't taken yet. Dwight had been helping me prep to take it. Come test day honestly not a thing he taught me from the test prep was on that test. But him teaching me how to THINK about every part to every question, equation, and how to analyze scientific data, is what helped me to succeed and pass the ACT to get into college.

Laura is very friendly and welcoming. She is easy to understand and easy to learn from. I learned so much about SAT and ACT strategies, which helped my time management on the test. I got into my number one school, and 9 out of 11 schools that I applied to. I definitely wouldn't have been able to do that without Laura!

Steven Greene tutors our son, who is a junior in high school. His teaching style, especially in chemistry and physics, helped our son grasp the information with ease. We also have Steven going over SAT strategies to prepare for the upcoming test. From a parent's point of view, Steven is very professional, can relate to our son, always available by phone or email, if needed, and after each session, updates us with what material he went over and the progress our son is making.

Dana tutored my daughter for both SAT math (and) the SAT Subject Test (Math level II). The results were amazing-- my daughter raised her scores +90-100 points on both exams (vs the practice tests she took before the tutoring). In fact, she scored high enough her during her 1st sitting of the SAT, that she decided to only take it once (big stress reliever to be 'one and done'!) My daughter said that the most helpful aspects of Dana's tutoring included: helping her easily recognize "what type of problem" is being asked (which helped her quickly determine how to tackle it). Also, she said Dana was especially helpful with providing tips on different ways to approach problems (in case she got stumped). Finally, she said Dana was very helpful in teaching her shortcuts (which saved prescious time on test day). As a parent, I appreciated Dana's proffessionalism and the easy rapport she had with my daughter. She is very approachable and is wonderful to work with. If your child is willing to put in the time to raise their math scores, Dana is a wonderful resource to help guide them (my daughter worked with Dana 1 hour per week, and also did a few practice tests at home throughout her SAT prep period, but I'm sure everyone's requirements vary). I recommend Dana without hesitation-- she's the real deal!

About

Let's face it: the college admissions process is stressful enough, but the SAT doesn't have to be. How to reduce the stress? Know what to expect and feel confident that you are ready for whatever could come your way. My philosophy as a tutor is to give students the tools and guidance they need to get their best possible scores. I do this by focusing not only on test strategies, but also on the content of the exam. I work closely with students and parents to develop a study plan that meets the student's needs and talents. There is no one-size-fits-all here. Over the past eight years, I have tutored over one thousand students on all sections of the SAT. My students are from all walks of life and academic backgrounds, from inner city public schools to the most elite private school. I am successful as a tutor, because I believe that every student can learn to master the exam. As part of my philosophy of approaching every student as an individual, I have developed an expertise in working with students with learning differences. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to tutor many students who received accommodations on the exam due to ADHD, Asperger's, dyslexia, and other diagnoses. I work closely with these students and their parents to develop an approach to the exam that compliments their learning styles and makes the best use of their specific accommodation. Do you have questions? Do you want to know more about me and my teaching style? Please get in touch. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
