Julia is a joy to work with! She is an enthusiastic, kind, and patient teacher. Lessons fly by because we have actual conversations in Spanish (where I’m not afraid to make mistakes) along with more structured practice to learn new vocabulary and grammar. Julia was awesome. She new exactly what i wanted without me having to explain a lot. She’s professional and knows how to get the information across. She was able to customize the lesson to suit what i wanted out of it. The lesson with her was so much fun. It wasn’t like the lessons you take where it’s only theory and no application. She is patient and punctual. For anyone who would like to learn Spanish wether you want to learn the Grammar bit by bit, if you want to have conversation, if you want your own customized Spanish lesson, then Julia is your one. I highly recommend her.

I am a young professional with an mba who has over the years tried to maintain my basic to some intermediate Spanish skills. I took Spanish in elementary, middle, and high school as well as college to try to maintain what I knew, but even with my friends who are fluent in Spanish, I do not have a chance to use my Spanish beyond very basic conversations! I finally decided I needed support and tried an online company called baselang. I did not like it because the person you work with changes to a different person each session and their mics and video call did not work well. How can I learn a language if I cannot hear them well? I then found Julia on thumbtack and was impressed by her enthusiasm from the very beginning. She clearly enjoys teaching, which I truly appreciate since I tutor myself and understand the importance of engaging with your students. I also understand her words over the skype call. She asks me about my life and shares about her life as well, therefore we have conversations about topics that I am genuinely interested in talking about and sharing. I appreciate her patience and consistency as she is diligent about correcting every mistake I make during conversation! I feel as though the sessions are personalized for my goals with Spanish. She provides homework that I feel is doable to work on and review before the next session. I do not feel overwhelmed by it with my full schedule. She is friendly, professional and I would highly recommend her to anyone at any level!
