Melissa was an awesome tutor. I had taken an SAT prep course but wasn't scoring high on practice tests- esp in math. She really understands the math and is very patient. I feel so much better and my practice scores are really good. I think I 'll do well on the real test.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

After I decided psychology was not the path for me, I set out to find what path I should take. I wanted to use my knowledge of human behavior from my post-secondary education. I also knew I needed to feel like I was making a positive contribution. All jobs have moments of overwhelming stress and frustration, so I needed to know there was a reason to overcome these obstacles besides a paycheck. Furthermore, I would need to be around people, form relationships, and become part of a community. Sitting at a computer all day by myself would make me miserable. I love meeting people, learning from them, watching them grow and seeing how they help me grow professionally and as person. So one key piece was the human element. I would need to feel intellectually stimulated. I did not want to do tedious, routine tasks; I wanted a challenge, to feel like I was constantly developing, to know that stress was indicative of growth, not stagnation. Another fundamental consideration was I needed some freedom to be creative. I love trying to discover new approaches to problems and integrate various areas into one concrete creation, such as a blog, piece of writing, or household project. As I progressed through my analysis, the fact that teaching was the perfect career became apparent.
