I've been wanting to start guitar lessons for awhile but it's always seemed so daunting. Jason took all the pain out of finding an instructor. He set me up with a great teacher and pointed me towards a custom lesson package for beginners. I'm on my second lesson with Jonah and couldn't be happier. Thanks Reverb Lessons!

I took beginning ukulele lessons with Carol. I am a 58 year old student who can not read music. Carol was patient, understanding and very encouraging. As a first grade teacher, I plan to play the ukulele in class for our poetry lessons. Carol helped me learn the songs I will use in class and now I feel prepared and ready to shine like a rock star in front of my first graders! I would highly recommend her!

My fisrt lesson started with relaxing music and stretching, along with breathing exercises. Then we did couple of exercises to know my voice rane. The breathing techniques helps a lot! I am a trasformstional breather and it happens to help with controlling the breath while singing. Justin introduced me to so many techniques from knowing my voice range to training my voice. He also introduced me to Vaccai method, which I found very useful, that has pieces for Sopranos. Don't hesitate taking classes with Justin! I am so grateful to have had him as a voice instructor.

About

Using a principle called Pareto's Law or the law of 80/20, I focus on the 20% of material (chords, scales, etc.) that will yield 80% of what a student is looking to learn. For example: out of all of the possible chords to learn, there are just a handful that a beginner should focus to be able to play hundreds of songs very quickly. I have a very active YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers who can be used as supplemental material for students. Skype lessons can be arranged for more remote students, and I take video requests if a student would like a specific song or technique broken down. Videos are a great way to learn at your own pace. The pricing varies depending on the type of lesson, but I keep it reasonable.

I'm an amateur bass player (and actively taking bass lessons one a week) and would like to learn some ukulele, partly just for fun so I play songs unaccompanied and partly to better understand chords and chord relationships and theory. (I'd like to learn some guitar too. Someone who teaches guitar also would be great.) Would like a teacher in Manhattan.
