I would definitely recommend Dr. Turner for anyone who is planning an upcoming wedding! He (along with his assistant) will basically go wherever your wedding is (my wedding was in Gaskill Park), arrives early and was extremely patient when our witnesses were driving from New York. He takes the time to produce a ceremony fit for you (I particularly liked the poem, These Hands). Hopefully I don't have to get married again, but if I did, I would choose Dr. Turner in a heartbeat! I cannot gush enough about him!

Michael was a professional from the first contact. Vi was planning my daughter's wedding from 2000 miles away but Michael put me totally at ease. He always responded to my emails immediately. The day of the wedding he arrived early to scout the location and cane to introduce himself and get right to work with the bride getting ready. He was present but very unobtrusive. The day after the event he sent a sampling of the finished product which were beautiful. We are anxiously awaiting the rest We highly recommend Michael

I hired Matt for wedding prep photos for my sister's wedding. I'm so happy he was able to fit us in last minute! He arrived early and was very professional. He was very personable and had great ideas for creative shots. It was nice having a vendor that was able to keep everyone's nerves at ease. I highly recommend his services and we will be hiring him again in the future!

Rev. Jean was wonderful. We met with her in her home and we discussed various options concerning different kinds of wedding ceremonies, i.e Christian vs Non Christian. She was easy to contact if we had any questions. We opted for a Christian ceremony in our home. Our wedding ceremony was beautiful. I highly recommend Rev. Galliano to anyone getting married.

Very easy to work with; Pro Click Photo is a wedding vendor that needs no babysitting/hand holding. Professional, on time, and delivered all that was stated in the contract. Photo quality was great, props were plentiful, and everyone loved the fact that everyone got a copy.

We could not have chosen a better photographer for our wedding! John & his partner Vanessa were very punctual the day of our wedding, even early, and it was clear that they wanted to do the best photography work that day. Even in our tiny Old City hotel room with 6 women + hair & makeup professionals, John & Vanessa were in and out and got numerous beautiful "getting ready" photos. John was the perfect balance of 'always there' to catch memorable moments while also being 'out of sight' so as not to distract from the day. His artwork is impressive, and we can't wait to save, print, and share these photos for a very long time! He also made the photos available extremely quickly, and easily! If you are considering hiring JJ Studios, DO IT! And make sure you do the "practice day" ~6 weeks before your event - it makes the day of go so much smoother and more comfortable!

Starting from our first Google video chat to our wedding day, DJ Reese was extremely accommodating, understanding, and upbeat. His friendly yet professional nature made our decision to hire him super easy. My now husband and I were impressed by his DJ background and willingness to travel from New Jersey to our wedding in Baltimore. When I contacted him on the day before the wedding with last minute changes, Martin was super flexible and honored our requests. Our friends raved about the dance reception, and he definitely kept the party going. I only wish we had more time allotted for dancing! Thanks, DJ Reese for an amazingly fun wedding!

Lynda was GREAT! Our original officiant cancelled on us two weeks b/f the wedding. Lynda was available and put together a great ceremony script for us with such short notice. Our wedding was at the jersey shore in the middle of a Nor'easter and Hurricane Joaquin. Lynda was a trooper: she had to jump on a shuttle bus with all of our wedding guests to get to our venue. The venues parking lot was flooded with 2 feet of water. Even with the weather and the news was telling people to stay off the island, Lynda didn't even think about canceling on us. Lynda was very diligent and I highly recommend Lynda for your wedding.

I love how Stephanie and her team took my design and vision and executed it wonderfully. And she also injected her ideas which worked well with my design. They set it all up and broke it down which proved to be a lifesaver. I am such a Type A, "need to control" everything kind of person who does party planning myself, but I felt comfortable releasing the reins to Stephanie on my wedding day. She even came to my rehearsal and helped with ideas. She even spruced up the bathroom for guests which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend Everything is an Event and I would definitely use their services again. The only thing I would say is that the flow of events were a little off. There were a few people in the wedding party that felt that Stephanie could have been a little more hands on with controlling certain things instead of just responding to issues. Also, when the items such as linens, centerpieces, candles, etc. were broken down, they were just placed in any of the storage containers instead of the way they came to the venue. The only issue with that is re-packing everything for storage. But it is a minor thing. Overall, like I said, it was great working with Stephanie and her team and I would definitely use their services again. THANKS STEPHANIE AND EVERYTHING IS AN EVENT!!!

Some people just have "it." Alyssa has "it" and more! She is inherently creative and talented with a beautiful eye for stunning, unique images. Our engagement shoot and wedding day were lively and memorable; Alyssa provided us with photos that really stand out and perfectly capture the magic of both days. She took the time to understand us as a couple and the specific "look" we wanted for our Save the Dates. On our wedding day we gave her free rein and she did not disappoint! Some of our favorites from both sessions are attached. Thanks for everything, Alyssa! We only plan on getting married once, but we hope to book you again for another special event!

Hiring Cody for my wedding day-of coordinating and set-up was the best thing I could have done. Even though we didn’t meet face-to-face until the day, we spent plenty of time talking on the phone, emailing, and even texting (last minute weather crisis day before). I 100% trusted her judgement, decisions, and opinions when it came to my set-up. Even though we got married in Chester County, PA, she was willing to travel. In addition to her professional attitude and overall sweet and helpful outlook, she had to put up with a Type A, obsessively organized bride! I shared a Google Doc with her of all the things that had to get done on the day of, where I wanted things, and descriptions of what my vision entailed, down to how I wanted the cocktail tables set up. Cody never batted an eye (even though many of my friends and family called me slightly insane), and she wasn’t offended that I was so hands-on, even though I wasn’t going to be the one setting up. The Thursday before my Saturday weather, the weather really decided to get nasty and wet, so I ended up texting her at 7:30 in the morning freaking out about not having an indoor ceremony decor plan. Not only did she send me screenshots of stuff she thought I might like/buy/make, but as it turned out, she Amazon primed all the materials to her house and built a ceremony backdrop that I loved, including twinkling lights! My DJ also provided a day-of coordinator, and there weren’t any “power struggles” (that I’m aware of!) like you hear if you hire your own vendors. Cody did a phenomenal job setting up everything in the span of time she had. I’m so grateful I found her and decide to contract her services! Contact her now - her services were so affordable, and she had different "packages" to help us stay in budget!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
