Scheduling
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We believe customer service is not treated as importantly by many service providers today. We focus on customer service satisfaction from the time our clients call to place their inquiry/request an estimate through the end of the move. The feedback from clients and hearing how helpful we were at removing some of the stress from the moving process is the best feeling! The office staff loves relaying that information to the crew and getting to see their reaction to our client's satisfaction.

Steel City Movers did my move. They were efficient, professional, affordable, and reliable. Nothing was broken.

Bryan and Steel City Movers were professional from start to finish. He and his crew helped move my grandmother into her apartment with ease, politeness, and never a complaint. They truly understand how stressful moving is for all parties involved, and want to make it as smooth an experience as possible. I was impressed with how they worked very hard, yet efficiently--making the most of their time while on job. Highly recommend them!

SCM helped me move into a larger office location. Their attention to detail was second to none. They never cut corners and the job was done right. I had worked for a large moving company when I was in college so I understand how difficult the job can be. SCM exceed my expectations and I definitely recommend them to anyone.

SCM moved my mother last August. They were fantastic. The guys who came in and moved her things were polite and efficient. When a handful of things went wrong (which had everything to do with the place she was moving to and nothing to do with SCM) they problem solved and continued to make the move as smooth as possible. I would (and do) refer them to anyone. They're amazing.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We dispatch our crew from our office in zip 15221 all over SWPA. We therefore have a tiered travel fee that can get a little complex. Our travel fee assumes total miles round trip from our office in our own non-moving vehicles (company car that transports our crew and our gear). less than or equal to 30 miles RT: $40 flat travel fee greater than or equal to 31 miles RT: $65 flat travel fee greater than 100 miles RT: $65 flat + $0.40/mi from mile 101 and up.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

We wanted to change our clients perception of moving laborers from people who are gruff and stand-offish whom you are afraid to ask to move your jewelery chest to people that are personable, friendly, easy to talk to, and above all- trustworthy.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Read reviews and ask for references! Of course companies are going to refer you to their most satisfied clients, but they have less control over online reviews. Pay attention to how companies respond to negative reviews. Are they apologetic and offering to remedy the complaint or are they combative and defensive, blaming the client for whatever it was that went wrong. Imagine yourself in a similar scenario. Unfortunately damage does sometimes happen. Which service provider would you rather deal with in those events?
