Introduction: I love music, and I love teaching. My goal is to show students the beauty of music so that they love it, too. I have a BA in music from the University of Washington (Seattle), and have been teaching since 2008. I am very enthusiastic and work well with both children and adults. I customize lessons to each student's age, capability and personality. I emphasize musicality and technique, teaching far beyond the notes on the page. I may also incorporate music theory and history, depending on the student. Students appreciate my patience and kindness. I never get frustrated, and am always encouraging, especially with younger students. Students who are interested may have one free trial lesson.

Ada is everything I could ask for in a piano instructor for my 10-year-old. She has a focused but fun demeanor, makes sure to cover the basic skills and theory, and seems to be a very patient individual. My daughter is very excited for her lesson each week and actually enjoys practicing.

Ada is very professional, knowledgeable and good with kids (i.e. patient and fun). My 5 year old takes weekly lessons from her, and in 6 months she has made great progress. Ada is great at making the most of the time in lessons to hammer out issues, and help me as a parent work with my child. She is a great teacher, and knows how to hone in on what needs improvement. She communicates very well to my child, using lots of different teaching techniques to help my child learn. If you are looking to give your child a classical foundation in piano, I highly recommend her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First trial lesson is always free. My rate is $60/hr ($30 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45 minutes). I strongly encourage weekly lessons. Preferred payment method is via check or PayPal, for the whole month, at the beginning of the month. Any lessons that are missed will be credited towards the next month. However, lessons cancelled within 24 hours will not be credited.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, new students will come for a free trial lesson. During this time, I get to learn about the student's background and goals, and I get to introduce the student to my philosophy and style. If the student and I decide that my teaching style will suit their needs, then we'll continue with regular lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Art in Music from the University of Washington (Seattle). I earned this degree studying under Dr. Regina Yeh.
