Introduction: My command of English is impeccable. I have an eagle eye that is second to none, and my attention to detail is exceptional. I'd put my work up against the work of the best editors in publishing. I find grating errors every day in the writing of New York Times and Philadelphia Inquirer journalists, among others, and it makes my hair stand on end. I think that the fine art of writing proper English, including using the right words in the right contexts, following the accepted rules of grammar and syntax, and using punctuation as it was meant to be used, among other issues, is becoming a lost art, to the detriment of all. If I could, I'd clean up every poorly executed website on the Internet and fix every single mistake I see on every page, and there are many! It's enough to drive a sane person crazy. The satisfaction that results from fixing the embarrassing mistakes of others, all while preserving the spirit of the piece and respecting the writer's intent. I love resolving questions of grammar, spelling, and word usage. Since I was a schoolkid, language has been my "thing," and colleagues and friends have always come to me with their questions related to the written word.
