Cal did a really amazing job with our wedding photography. There was a snow storm on the day of our wedding so we had to take all of the pictures inside. I was bummed that we didn't have a lot of variety taking pictures inside, but he was just full of ideas for pictures. We didn't have a great plan ahead of time and he just rolled with it and remained enthusiastic and professional throughout the wedding! We received our pictures way quicker than expected and they turned out really amazing! I can't recommend Pro Click and Cal enough! I will definitely use them for future events.

Selecting Damon to be our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process. Damon communicated back and forth with us via e-mail and phone prior to the wedding, and he was always prompt in replying. The day of the wedding, Damon arrived at the venue well in advance. During the ceremony and reception, Damon skillfully maneuvered around, catching pictures of everyone and everything we could have asked for. They were so friendly, professional, and just generally wonderful. Any setups we wanted, any amount of people or groups, wherever, whenever, they were completely willing. A couple of weeks after the wedding, Damon sent us the link to our picture gallery, and we were in awe. What a wonderful selection of pictures! So many to choose from, yet all fantastic shots. We really were incredibly pleased with how the pictures turned out, and will definitely treasure them forever. If you’re considering Damon Bilger Photography for your wedding or other event, don’t waste your time looking anywhere else– they’re the right choice. We only hope we have some other big event come up in the next few years so we can do business with them again, it really was that much of a pleasure!

Gary, I love the video you made for us, but it isn't just me anymore... Remember how it was such an uphill battle to convince everyone (other than me) that a wedding video would be awesome? My groom and my parents and his parents... Everyone thought it would be unneccessary and distracting and bothersome, blah blah blah. Well, I am happy to report that EVERYONE has changed their minds and are so happy to have the video. We have all enjoyed getting to remember our special day and seeing all those moments that we didn't see at the time. My husband loved the messages from our family and friends. My parents were thrilled to see more of guests who weren't in many photos, and to have a chance to enjoy and remember the day rather than focus on just the details. And my husband's parents have told me of their happiness with our video via text, so I can quote them directly: "Actually, it's the best wedding video we've ever seen. Your videographer made everybody look good, and the editing and pacing were excellent. The video really captured the spirit and feeling of the day. We enjoyed reliving those 2 days. Thank you for having a video made and sharing it with us. The quality of this one has made believers of us. It really has added to the enjoyment of your special day in a way that still photography cannot." So, thank you so much for your wonderful work preserving these memories for us (and, as an aside, for proving my point to our families about the value of having a good wedding video.) We couldn't possibly be happier - thank you!

James shot our wedding on October 9th, 2017. We interviewed several videographers and originally settled on someone else. A couple months before our wedding, we could not get in touch with our videographer and as a result needed to find someone new. We went back to James and he graciously accepted to shoot our wedding. I should note that we had a Monday wedding and James had two weddings to shoot that weekend, one in Wisconsin. Needless to say, his plate was full, but he still accepted. First, he's sucha kind spirit and listens. He understood exactly what we wanted from our wedding video and made us feel so at ease. James always responded in a timely manner. He arrived early on our wedding day and delivered our completed video in the time he originally estimated. While getting ready, James did some interviews which we loved seeing after the wedding. It was so touching to hear what my husband said about me on the morning of the wedding. It's something we'll always cherish. I told James that we wanted a certain style of music and he delivered. We love the time and creativity that went into our completed videos. James even over delivered by providing us a slightly longer video because we had so many special moments! During the wedding, we barely noticed James, in a good way. He was always there but never blocking anyone's view. I can't say enough good things about James. We see him as a professional, a dedicated artist, and a kind human. As for pricing, James is VERY reasonable for the product he delivers. For us, time was an important factor. We really wanted someone to cover about 10 hours and James was the only person who was willing to do that without nickel and diming us by the minute. We highly recommend to James to anyone looking for a videographer for any special event. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

At first I was weary hiring a photographer without seeing his or her work (because Wedding Bug assigns one to you.) But working with Lynne on my wish list, she assured me that their photographers go through a big screening process. The week of my wedding, the photographer contacted me and I could tell he would be easy to work with and that the photos would be great. He shows up on-time (actually sooner to scope out the setting) and made each shot direct and quick. Then I was thinking that the shots would just be 'ok' but Wedding Bug sent me all the pics the day after my wedding. All I can say is that I am so impressed with Bob, our photographer. I don't know how he captured perfect lighting but almost every picture is wonderful. I would recommend this company to anyone and would certainly use them again.

Carl was great the day of our wedding. We loved our first look pictures and were able to get all portraits don't before the wedding so there was plenty of time to interact with guests. He captured a lot of great action shots and personal moments with family members that we will always cherish. Our album and prints came out perfect! We would definitely recommend him for all events!

We hired TK video for our wedding and are very happy with the results. Tyler was fast and responsive and thorough. The audio and visual quality of the video was great and he got pretty much everything that was important filmed. Also, he was very helpful with the highlight video and took feedback until we got the product we were happy with. I would highly recommend.

Working with Angela of Acquainted Wedding Productions was one of the *best* decisions we made while planning our wedding. We chose the package for a highlight video. She was a complete joy to work with from our initial conversation to the last email with the finished video, and was very flexible, professional and punctual throughout the entire process. She made it very easy to contact her when we had questions and delivered the final video faster than we ever expected - all while incorporating our ideas and feedback into the final product. Her vision and style are spot on and she and her assistant captured some of the most beautiful shots of our wedding - we especially love all the little moments they caught that we weren't even aware of at the time. They also caught all the sweetest moments of our vows and the speeches that we are so happy to be able to relive forever. We were even on the fence about having a videographer at all in the beginning stages of wedding planning, but we are so glad we did! The value and her quality of work are top notch. We 100% recommend Acquainted Wedding Productions to any couple looking for a wedding videographer, or even anyone looking to film any special occasion - you will end up with a beautiful video that you'll treasure forever.

We had a difficult time finding a videographer for our 5/28/16 wedding because we wanted an unedited video. We went out of our comfort zone with looking on thumbtack. We spoke to Jake and he was very receptive with the type of video we wanted and he was very timely with getting back with us to discuss our next steps. He showed up very early the day of our wedding to get familiar with the surroundings. We were very satisfied with the finished product. Our wedding video was everything we dreamed it would be. You would not go wrong with booking Jake for your special day!

Ta'Dacia was amazing! My husband and I agreed that having her as our photographer was one of our best wedding decisions! We are just getting back all of our proofs and they look beautiful, she captured every moment of our wedding perfectly. She was exceptional with our guest and gave great directions, because we needed them. For us getting a photographer of top quality was a priority and we got that in her. Thank you so much!

My wedding was on September 29th, and Solo Koo could not have been more professional. They effortlessly appeared and disappeared during our wedding, to the point where we didn't notice them at all! But let me tell you... Boy did they capture every magical moment! Their work is AMAZING! We received our highlight film last night and it was nothing short of spectacular. The attention to detail is incredible. The sequences are impeccable, with images matching up to lyrics of songs. I cannot recommend them enough! They were polite, worked really well with our other vendors, and even stayed late to capture closing moments. If you want to capture your wedding... There is only Solo Koo Wedding Films.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
