They fixed the problem, they cleared the drain for $99 as promised. They then told me that they recommended replacing the line because it was old, a project that would cost around $5k+ depending on what they found. They said that it was sure to back up again and that it was only a matter of time.
I had a master plumber also come for a second opinion. He said the line looked fine, and to simply stop using Charmin (which apparently doesn't break down in water). He says, as someone who used to work for Roto Rooter, A LOT of these $99 special companies don't make money on snake services, but make their money on the extra services to insist homeowners need.
The service itself was fine; they were fast, professional, and courteous. The disingenuous up-sale strategy is why I rated them 3 stars.
