Joe from Life Work did an outstanding job with my resume and cover letter. He took the time to deliver a really enjoyable to read and at the same time formal resume that matched exactly my personality and work ethic. He knows how to write and is aware of the recruitment system we have nowadays. I'll recommend him to my family members and friends with no doubts. Thanks!

Transitioning from a collegiate athlete to a working professional with a desk job took a huge toll on my overall health. It was tough to find the motivation to get to the gym after a long day at work. I started working with Jonas about three years ago and he changed everything. He's an incredible trainer, coach, and person. I highly recommend F.A.M.E. Fitness!

Karen has an amazing way of integrating life coaching in with the services as our lifestyle and choices are a big driver in our career. Karen was generous with her time, available and on the call at our set times and always provided critical feedback I needed to hear. Karen provided great tips I had never considered and I was able to successfully integrate them into my interview process. I highly recommend Karen for your life and career coaching needs!

Linda and I quickly formed a working relationship that is helping me to resolve some conflicts that have distracted me from other, more productive pursuits. Her "assignments" have proven very insightful and beneficial, especially through a stressful time involving serious illness in my immediate family. Linda's balance of vision paired with practicality works for me and clarifies my own instincts. She is a real asset as a life coach!!

Nekeidra was amazing to work with. She helped update my resume, explaining the different formats required for online applications vs. email applications. She also coached me on tailoring my resume for each and every different job I applied for. She was supportive and helped me through my entire search process. I truly enjoyed working with her!

I find SHEpherd's guidance very useful in my current career. Dina gives me advice on navigating usual hurdles and some not so common hurdles. I find having someone coach me who actually has a successful career outside of "career coaching" to be a great benefit. Her career experiences help me make better choices. I'm looking forward to continued support from Dina and SHEpherd Consulting. JO

I sought out a coach because I was looking for guidance on ways to improve my career. I was experiencing a lack of fulfillment and needed help defining my professional goals and strategies for achieving them. Chris and I were able to set up our first meeting within one week of our initial call which I appreciated. We have had two meetings so far, and I can tell already that he is very astute. He helped me define my core challenges and goals within the first hour and we're already working on a plan for moving forward. He is personable and very encouraging. I would absolutely recommend him.

Katrina is a fantastic life coach! She has a very inviting and genuine personality. I felt comfortable talking to her almost immediately in our first session. Big or small, I feel like I can talk about anything that's going on in my life with Katrina. She always has time to "go into the weeds" with me and help understand what I am thinking. Not too long ago Katrina guided me through a major career change. I felt stuck where I was, and Katrina helped me to breakdown what I was going through and figure out what my true passions are. She got me to focus on what was important and we set goals that were both measurable and achievable. I am so much happier now, and I don't think I could have gotten here without Katrina's guidance. I would highly recommend Katrina as a life coach to anyone looking!

Braco is an excellent coach. He is passionate about what he does and it shows. He cares about each of his students and is committed to helping them improve their lives through positive psychology. Not only that, but he also practices what he preaches and has incorporated his tools and suggestions into his own life with success (which he is happy to share with his students), so he knows what works and what doesn't. One of the things I like best is that he is very practical with his approach- all of his suggestions are concrete (not vague), realistic, and can be broken down into easy to follow steps. I also appreciate that he is very well-read in terms of research in positive psychology. I would highly recommend Braco to anyone looking for this type of coaching, they won't be disappointed!

Freyja Fitness and Kickboxing has changed my life. "Energy begets energy" and that is what we do. I was looking to lose weight and learn boxing skills without getting punched in the face. James made it fun and easy. I learned technique but for the most part we made it a game...you won't even feel like you are working out. Highly recommend him.

At the age 47 and a little out of shape, I needed to get in top physical shape for a police academy. (In New Jersey the age limit for police officers is 35, but there is no age limit for correction and sheriffs dept)...... so I new if I wanted this job in corrections, I had to be ready, and if anybody has been to any police academy, you know it's a para military atmosphere. Screaming at you from day one, not caring about your feelings. Their only concerns is that you will be physically and mentally strong in law enforcement environment. The first Day I walked in, I talked to Bob about my mental and physical weaknesses, and he told me not to worry, and to listen to everything he had to say moving forward. I literally felt at ease from that moment on. Now it wasn't always easy, Bob pushed my mental and physical abilities beyond I thought I could ever reach, and after 6 months of running, sprinting,spinning,rowing,pull-ups, push-ups, weight training, jump roap, etc., I found myself in the best physical and mental shape of my life. Bob is more than just a trainer, he is a trainer, a life coach, a friend, (and even an enemy, lol when he had to be). I am proud to say that on July 12, 2016 I graduated as a New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission corrections officer, cycle 29 and have been working in the jail ever since, and I couldn't be happier about my new career in law enforcement, but most of all, I couldn't of been happier about the choice I made walking into Bob's studio, because I know I could have never done it on my own. Sometimes in life we need a little help to get to the next level, and that's why I made the investment in myself to get to the next level with Bob Pelsang!!!!! Sincerely, S.C.O. T. Venezio

My experiences with Rick began a few years ago, when he began training/coaching me at a martial arts school where we practiced. I post this because simply knowing him has motivated me to be a better person in life. In the school, his directions were clear, concise. I liked that he was genuine, and never explained anything that he had not experienced himself. One trait that made him such a great coach, was his ability to detach, and take a look at challenges and obstacles from an outside perspective, that others may not be able to see. I have never seen him back down from an extreme challenge. Other traits that I noticed about him were his authentic positivity, and a ferocious determination to help others accomplish their goals, while at the same time being humble enough to listen to others and learn. I later came to realize that he is this way because he thrives on helping others perform to the best of their ability, and because he cares. I can always count on Rick, and I trust him. I'm fortunate that our paths somehow crossed in life. -Enrique Luna

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.
