I'm not one to write reviews, but because I'm passionate about working out, fitness and nutrition, I feel I should let others out there know what a great place Activate is for all of the above. I have been a member since it's inception and truly believe that it is different than any other facility or big box gym I've ever been a member of. At Activate you are not just another number or member but a person with individual needs. You are heard and encouraged to succeed whether it be from the staff (who are phenomenal by the way) or from other members who are also there to succeed. As a person who has struggled with my weight from my teens into adulthood, it has always been super-depressing to go from fitness center to fitness center and not achieve success. Even if I did achieve success, it was barely measurable, not to mention that I never learned anything about what is necessary to get results - appropriate nutrition and the kind of workouts needed for targeting fat loss. Like so many others, I was on the treadmill and elliptical wasting my time. Activate is the only place I have ever found true success with real, lasting weight loss and nutrition. The staff genuinely cares and encourages you to dig deep to get to the goals you set upon yourself. You will not only learn the best and most efficient way to lose weight, you learn what it takes to keep it off. It is not a fad or a "diet plan" center with pre-packaged breakfast, lunch and dinners, or pills to swallow to suppress your appetite and journals to count your points in. Activate is a fitness center that cultivates living a healthy way of life. It's a place with real people who truly understand because they too have had through their own struggles. It is not a spa where you won't break a sweat and it's not boot camp where someone will break you. Activate is a place where you will get results at the pace you dictate for you. I am a walking testament that it works.
I'm a healthy, active 50+ year old male that has been into physical fitness/nutrition for most of my adult life. Over the last few years I had been thinking of hiring a personal trainer, to up my fitness game. I had spoken to a few but didn't hire anyone because the chemistry seemed off. Recently, I discovered Performance Fitness Training, went in for a consultation and liked their ideology. They were thorough in the questions they asked in order to understand my goals and were straight forward with the knowledge/help they would provide and the discipline/responsibility I would need to have in order to reach those goals (i.e. no outlandish promises). I've had a few workouts with a very knowledgeable PFT personal trainer named "Kyle." This young man is very knowledgeable, motivating and easy to talk with. I have learned something new each workout and leave looking forward to the next one. PFT is exactly what I've been looking for, and as of this writing, I am very pleased and excited about finding them.
I have had an excellent experience with Coach Missy! Missy is professional, knowledgable in both fitness and nutrition, she gives very individualized treatment to her clients so we all get excellent workouts. I met with Dana after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I was anxious about the diagnosis, exhausted, and looking for answers more sustainable than the steroids I was prescribed. Dana put my mind at ease, helped to plan and implement an appropriate diet, and suggested supplements that have helped me immensely. I have more energy than I've had in years, and I'm hopeful that I will be able to manage my disease without a lot of medication. Dana's clinical understanding of disease and nutrition, along with her calm and kind approach is just perfect.

I have tried other training/ nutrition programs and nothing beats what Derek does for you. I started with him back in May of 2012 and weighed 177 lbs.I currently weigh 146lbs. He has changed the way I think about food and exercise. Derek makes you want to come yo the gym because of the results you physically see. I would recommend him to everyone, every shape and size.

The services I received were an initial nutrition assessment and counseling. Noelle is a pleasure to work with. She came to my home at and provided great suggestions to improve my well being. She accommodated my vegan dietary preference in the meal plan she provided. She gave me awesome advice to help boost my energy and reduce stress in my busy life. I highly recommend her services.
I've been training with Marshall for a few weeks now and am already very happy with the personal training and nutrition plan he has provided. First off, you will not find a better trainer for the money than Marshall in the greater Baltimore area. His prices are about half of what I paid at a boutique personal training studio in Baltimore City and half or more than other quotes I received. Secondly, the training he has provided has pushed me like no other trainer has pushed me before. His detailed workout routines and cardio plans have me seeing results already. He has also provided me with a detailed and easy-to-follow meal plan at no additional charge. If you are looking to get into shape, or just looking to get into better shape, I highly recommend Marshall without hesitation.
