Chris did a wonderful job, and he was kind, professional and knowledgable about our very old piano. I honestly would not go with another tuner!Aug 22, 2016Verified
I had a wonderful experience with Chris Smith, Piano Tuner. This was my first time using Thumbtack and it was super easy. He gave me a quote very quickly and all the correspondence was very quick. He arrived early and thoroughly explained to me the current state of my piano. It is an old piano, but Chris was able to get it back in tune in no time! I would highly recommend Chris to any one and plan to use him again for my next tuning. You can't go wrong with quick, friendly, and professional service. No need to call around, Chris is who you need.Oct 18, 2016Verified
I highly recommend Chris Smith, Piano Tuner. He arrived early and worked straight through the appointment without pause. He offered valuable advice on the care/maintenance of my piano. Very knowledgeable, courteous, tenacious. Clearly a 5 star operation.Jan 30, 2017Verified
Chris Smith was courteous, on time and a true professional. Before buying our piano, Chris answered a few questions we had about the piece. Amazingly, he knew much about the make, year and where the previous owner likely purchased it! He also helped us come up with a good asking price. We are very thankful for Chris' keen knowledge about pianos and his willingness to share what he knows. We couldn't be happier. We now have exactly the instrument we wanted and a great piano tuner too!Oct 1, 2016Verified
Chris Smith is a wonderful piano tuner because he is polite and professional, shares his knowledge when asked, communicates very well about plans, and does a good job tuning and repairing. He made the old piano that I acquired sing once more. I hope to work with him for a long time.Mar 11, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? For the most part Yes. For tunings, there are two different fees. One fee applies to pianos that are fairly well kept and require only minor adjustment to the piano wire. The higher fee applies to pianos that are significantly off pitch, either sharp or flat, and require a double tuning. Tuning fees range from $100 - $150, but can exceed that in some rare circumstances. I also offer lower pricing for regular tuning customers who keep their piano at pitch with regular 6 month tunings.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?we can communicate by phone or email, whichever is most convenient for the customer. If I need to see the piano to determine an accurate price quote, I offer no-obligation estimates at the customers home or venue. You can also schedule with no hassle online at my website smithspianocraft.com
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I began my piano service studies using a correspondence cours; however, later I earned a full apprenticeship with several leading technicians in the business. I continue my education, including knowledge and techniques, by attending regional conferences held by The Piano Technicians Guild. I have also studied refinishing with the legendary Zeiner and Sons Piano of Allentown, Pa and completed Laquer and Polyester Touchup and Repair with Allied Piano.
