My 15 year old daughter has being "playing" with a guitar for a couple of years now. I wanted her to get some proper training and Steve is an inspiration for her. His love of guitar and music is infectious and he knows how to teach the technical side, without it becoming boring. I also grabbed my guitar and joined in. We have now set up a weekly schedule and I hope to be the dad of a serious rock and roll guitarist in the near future. Thanks Steve!

I am a sixty year young man who took my first guitar lesson fifty years ago and has been in love with the instrument ever since. I have been taking weekly lessons from Tom for almost seven years and can't think of a lesson when I didn't go home excited to practice something new Tom had taught me. Tom is a phenomenal musician and composer with years of knowledge and the personality traits of patience, compassion and persistence that allow him to be a great teacher. While waiting for my lessons I have watched Tom with both young beginners and college music majors and he consistently helps us all move forward in both guitar technique and music understanding. If you are even hesitating about starting lessons with Tom, please write me at jack.thornton@sebagosystems.com

Stacia was a complete JOY, to work with! She made our special day from start to finish The Best Day Ever! She was accountable, self motivating, very creative, she stayed waaayyyy ahead of schedule, and she really got in tuned with our style, as well as who we are as a couple, to create a PERFECT setting for our Wedding Day. She litterally took all of the stress of the planning process completely away! Her level of expertise about the whole wedding planning process, really put us at ease since I had never done this before. She is a business woman, and an artist! I could go on, and on an on, but the bottom line is I would advise EVERYONE to do yourselves a big favor by letting her make YOUR Wedding "The Best Day Ever!"

Ever since I can remember, Jason has been studying music. A writer, producer, manager, studio extraordinaire, he is everything music. Since we were kids all I can remember is just experimenting, that was the most fun of all because when you are young and you have the same passion as your cousin sitting right next to you, as you experiment with different sounds and styles, you create magic. I will always remember all the times we would stop jamming (him on guitar and myself on drums) and just look at each other like, wow, that was freaking awesome. We always had a chemistry and really I think it's because we just come from the same blood line as our highly talented grandfather who was a very respected drummer in the Delaware County area in Pa. As time went on and we became older, Jason really took off. His dream to open his own studio always stayed in the back of his mind through college and it motivated him and gave him the drive of the musican he is today. The thing about Jason is that he is humble. Sure, everyone wants to get paid but with Jason it's all about the music. He generally just wants to learn off of new artists and their sounds/styles and also give his feedback to them. It's all about bouncing ideas off one another in the studio, that's how the magic happens. Couldn't begin to explain the countless hours staying up listening to tracks over and over but that makes a great producer. I remember the Hobokan, NJ studio session and how accomplished we felt after just a weekend there. We really put in some work but most of all had fun whenever we made music together. Today, Jason would say he still has a lot to learn just because that's how humble he is but I would say he is at his strongest point in his career right now. With his own studio business growing and his ear for catchy music better than ever, I would encourage anyone who was looking for a producer/engineer to take the time and use this guys knowledge. He knows a lot at such a young age and I only wish I could be around more to experience the magic with him.

Rhonda is AMAZING!! She came to my house for my daughters 8th Birthday Party. We had 13 girls ages 6-10 sleepover. She came on time at 10 am on Sunday. She painted full faces on 15+ of the childrens faces. She even stayed a few minutes later then planned to paint a few of the siblings faces when they came to pick up their sisters. She did all of them plus some in 2 hours. Her work is Beautiful.!! She truly is an ARTIST, she brought 2 giant boards and books of choices to choose from of previous faces painted. The selection was current and new such as Frozen, Angry birds, super heroes, flowers, butterfly's, scary goblins, and so many more. She even did custom painting when the kids asked for something specific. She is very kid-friendly and gentlle while working. The kids loved it, and my daughter said it was the best party ever. We are planning to book her again in December for my sons birthday party!!

Chris has always been my first call when I need someone to DJ or perform as a headliner for an event. He has worked with me on the Lititz Fire & Ice Festival, Lititz National Night Out, VisionCorps events, Lions events, Lititz Springs park events, and more. He is a top-notch Artist that as a headliner, has entertained our crowds and kept them totally and completely engaged. He has also DJ'd for several events for us and always keeps people moving, dancing and smiling. I cannot express in words how highly I would recommend Chris for ANY event anyone would have. I requested him for a youth joy night at my church in April. When I tell you he showed up and showed out, he showed up and definitely showed out. My youth are still talking about his ministry, which makes me excited to see them so enthusiastic about the gospel. I wholeheartedly recommend this brother for any of your musical needs.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

        • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
        • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
        • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
