Writing, Math, SAT/ACT/GRE & Business TUTOR
About this pro
Kathy was really helpful. She had great strategies to use for the ACT and explained things in a way that was easy to understand.Jul 16, 2018
Kathy worked with my son for his SAT prep. He learned many strategies to help him with the test as well as in the classroom to help him succeed. Kathy was very prompt with his lessons and his homework.Jun 28, 2018VerifiedKathy C.'s reply
Thanks for posting Heather. Your son was a pleasure to work with and so bright! I was fascinated with the creative way he could back into many correct Math answers by eliminating illogical incorrect ones. I promised to help him master the grammar gremlin with some humor in September.
Kathy is an exceptional tutor and helped my daughter “virtually” & amply prepare for the ACT. On her first try on the ACT, she scored significantly higher than her SAT equivalent! Kathy blends helpful test taking tips per section with practical exam practice. She was trustworthy, and developed a great bond with our daughter. I recommend Kathy as an excellent tutor.Jun 13, 2018Verified
My daughter had a few sessions a couple weeks before taking the ACT. Kathy was great! Very responsive and personalized each session based on what my daughter needed to work on the most. She now feels much more confident and about taking the exam. Thanks!Jun 6, 2018VerifiedKathy C.'s reply
Thank you Becky! Hard-working students with high standards for themselves - like your daughter - always motivate me to go the extra mile in customizing my tutoring process. - Kathy C.
She had high energy and engaging. Highly recommended.May 16, 2018VerifiedKathy C.'s reply
Thank you Robert. Building confidence and pointing out the game-like aspects of the test are critical to helping the many students I coach who do not typically perform up to their ability on standardized tests. - Kathy C.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? You will need fewer hours with me (spend less) than with other tutors who walk through all different questions/problems "on the clock." My students do practice sections for homework and we only rework the ones they had trouble with together. You pay by the lesson and are never under any obligation to continue. If your quoted rate is higher than my base rate of $80/hr, I will reduce your hourly rate by 10% after the 1st 4 90 minute lessons. Non-emergency cancellations made within 24-hrs will be charged a 50% cancellation fee. No shows (having been sent an appt confirmation) will be charged 100%.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I am happy to answer any questions by phone (about ACT/SAT test prep) to help you decide if you want to work with me.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have an MBA from a top business school (Wharton). This was followed by a 20-year career that included several years of work in each of the following disciplines: communications, accounting, marketing, planning & investments. In every role, at least part of my responsibility was to "teach" both external customers & internal peers and subordinates about my company, product line or position, as well as to manage numerous project teams. Volunteering in the classroom when I stepped back from full-time work for a few years, solidified both my strengths and skills in teaching also for younger ages, especially in writing/language and mathematical spheres.
