New Day Design & Home Staging
About this pro
I have a very practical approach to staging and design, and understand that not every client wants or needs to start from scratch. I specialize in helping clients work with what they have, only adding pieces that enhance what already exists. This is especially true in Home Staging, where every attempt is made to use what the homeowner already owns. My specialty is helping clients see what they already own in new and creative ways. A home that has been staged prior to listing gives the impression that it is a home that has been taken care of, and will be a great home for any prospective buyer. A Consultation & Report is a great option for the homeowner who is ready to do the work themselves, and save money in the process. For those who would like more hands-on help, a Half- or Whole-Day of Staging is the recommended option. In designing interior or exterior spaces, my client's budget is the top priority. Selecting additional pieces that work with what the client already has is challenging, but that collection of items is what makes rooms interesting and beautiful. When designing an entire space from top to bottom, I use a layered approach. After meeting with the client, I select 2-3 inspiration pieces that I ask my clients to choose from. Once that item is decided upon, I offer 2-3 choices per item to my client, and we slowly build a beautiful room together. My clients always tell me that they feel a sense of pride when their rooms are done, as they helped choose everything! As a Decorator with a local major paint company for over six years, I specialized in both residential and commercial interior and exterior Color Consultations. During a consultation, I walk clients through the color selection process, asking many questions that pinpoint and help define the look they're trying to achieve. All the elements in a space are taken in consideration. Clients take an active part in choosing the best colors for them and their home. It's incredibly satisfying to hear a client tell me how much they love coming home to the changes we've made. I also often hear from staging clients that they wish they'd made the changes sooner, so that they could have enjoyed their home longer before they sold it.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Interior & Exterior Design, Color Consultations and Home Staging are all consistently priced at $50 per hour. A Staging Consult & Report is $225. Every Occupied and Vacant Staging project is different, so quotes are provided after I've met with the client in the home. Hands-on staging can be purchased in half-day or whole-day increments. I encourage prospective clients to contact me with any questions that they may have.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I encourage clients to get in touch and arrange a short meeting. It's the perfect opportunity for us to define expectations, and often helps clients articulate and define exactly what they're looking for. Sometimes a client only needs help rearranging furniture and accessories. This can often be done at our first meeting. Other times, the client is looking for a partial or whole room design. In every case, I always start by talking with them about what they need and want, among other things. I take measurements and pictures that help in creating a floor plan and sourcing items. I search for new items that are needed, often combining them with what the client already has and will be keeping. I start by providing my clients with 2-3 options for our inspiration piece. Once they've picked that main item, I do the same for each piece that we add. One piece at a time we create a layered design, and my clients help choose all of it! When we're done, a Design Board of the finished room is provided, which helps the client visualize what the room will look like. They can either choose to purchase those exact items, or use it as a shopping guide.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BFA in Design, was a Decorator/Color Consultant for over 6 years, and am a Certified Professional Home Stager and Redesigner. I am also a member of several staging and design groups, where there is constant discussion about what's new in the field and how to better serve our clients. Staying on top of design trends is very important. It is the key to creating spaces that are updated and fresh. Even one updated element can transform a space.
