Do your homework by asking lots of questions during the initial walk through. It would be a good idea to call some of his or her previous customers. Maybe even call his or her current customer. Ask for the contractors license number and proof of insurance. And never go by price alone! I have found you will always pay for what you get, but not always get what you pay for.
