I was a relative beginner to the guitar when I started lessons with Otis. From the first lesson he was patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. He tailors the lessons to the types of music and songs you are interested in. He has a wide range of music knowledge and styles which make him an ideal teacher who can help any student take that first step toward becoming a guitar player or help a seasoned player hone their skills. Highly recommended!

As an example of how effective Andy's instruction was for classical guitar, I am writing a review over a year since I've last seen him because I am still benefiting from his lessons. His musical experience and teaching ability made each meeting pleasant and productive. Pay attention to what he says.

David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!

I have been a classical guitar student of Bill's for the past 6 months. In retirement, I have decided to take what was an "off and on" affair with the classical guitar (I'm not a beginner) and, instead, commit the necessary time and energy to truly learning the instrument. These have been my first serious classical guitar lessons. Prior to these lessons, I was entirely "self-taught" which means I created a whole bunch of bad habits for myself and was not progressing at all. Bill refers to me as a "remedial" student which I think is a perfect description of my playing. Through Bill, I have learned proper technique which, in turn, has improved my tonality and musicality with the classical guitar. Bill has identified my bad habits, broken them down, shown the proper way to overcome them and makes sure I don't "back-slide" into my bad habits again. Bill paces the lessons according to ability, not covering material that's too advanced while still ensuring that the lesson is challenging. In each lesson, Bill is positive, encouraging yet kindly critical so that I know I am making progress yet always aware of what areas I need to work on. Bill has the right "make-up" for a teacher and I am pleased, and without reservation, to give Bill a 5 star rating.

I have three guitar lessons with Evan and he has already given me so much great stuff to work on! I had been teaching myself for about six months, but Evan has done so much more for me and shown me so many ways to improve. I am really looking forward to continuing learning from him.

Felix is a great guitar instructor! He has the knowledge, skills, and sensitivity to teach students of all ages and levels. Personable and enthusiastic, Felix communicates concepts and techniques very well. He is an amazing and inspiring guitarist who teaches the fundamentals while, at the same time, encourages exploration and personal expression. I have been taking private lessons from Felix for a number of years and I know first-hand of his ability and willingness to provide exceptional instruction in a wide range of musical styles and genres tailored to the individual student’s interest. In my case, due to having an eclectic musical taste, Felix tutors me in various categories which include: folk, blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, reggae, both classic and contemporary rock, and even some classical. I learn from him using both acoustic and electric guitar. Very soon after first taking lessons from Felix he began teaching me soloing techniques right alongside strumming rhythms. Felix, a Berklee School of Music alum, is an incredibly talented and passionate guitarist held in high regard among his peers. He is a natural teacher capable of effectively instructing the beginner, intermediate, and advanced level student in equal measure. With his vast knowledge Felix offers informed instruction on reading and transcribing music, theory, and composition for those students who wish to delve that deep in their study. Felix is patient, thorough, and encouraging in his teaching approach. As a long-term pupil of Felix’ I give him my highest recommendation.

After taking piano lessons from a traditional piano teacher for 6 years, I needed a change. Steve was the perfect choice. He played at a local piano bar at the time, and I wanted to hone my skills so I could play in bands, too. I assumed he would teach me the ins and outs of chords and then send me off to conquer the music scene, but it turned out he had a real mastery of musical theory, and he held it to a very high importance. He began each of our lessons with music theory - all the basics that make a solid foundation for any musician. Then, he introduced a new concept to something I had been doing all along. He gave me sheet music to learn - tough teaching songs - then after a time, began blocking my view of my hands with paper while playing. Eventually, he'd block my hands and take away the music, teaching me a very important part of playing anything in front of people. You have to know the music inside and out. You can't rely on the sheets in front of you. That's the only way you can truly immerse yourself in the song and let your fingers do the playing. His fees were reasonable and the time was very well-spent. You have to do the work between lessons to get the most out of them. Steve has a true mastery of live performance on every level, and it would behoove any musician, young or old, beginner or skilled, to spend a year in his teaching. We can all benefit from it. I certainly did. I've been in various bands, ever since, and I haven't looked back except to remember who helped me get here.

Mr. Fred Delgizzo worked around my schedule for my first 30 minute guitar lesson. He was very willing to meet me where I'm at; a beginner when it comes to music and a complete stranger to the guitar. He is very friendly and patient with me. The only negative is that my fingers hurt, but I don't believe even the best of teachers can do anything about that. #waitingforcalouses

About

Hi, my name is Frank Murphy, and I'm 42. I've been playing guitar for 30 years. Playing guitar is my favorite thing to do and teaching it is just one of its many rewards. Because of the guitar, I've been in bands that have toured. I've recorded several times for myself as well as doing sessions for blues, jazz, rock, metal, country, and shred. I've performed for thousands, and I've met some of the most interesting people. I teach in a manner which will lead you to finding your own voice on the guitar as an individual. I am well versed in music theory. Lessons are $60 for 30 minutes.

About

I am a Berkley School of Music trained guitarist. I have more than 30 years of experience playing both acoustic and electric guitar.

About

I am available to tutor chemistry and math. I also teach the guitar. I am very patient and clear in my explanations.

About

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I've taught off and on for the last 10 years. The method I use will be to pick songs that the student wants to learn, but throwing in some scales and modes as "homework" each lesson. You do your homework, and you will learn or be taught a segment of whichever piece you want to learn. If I feel it is beyond your abilities, I will tell you so, but I'll still teach you the song in small increments, eventually putting the song together . If a song is beyond my abilities, I will also tell you, as I am not Yngwie Malmsteen, however I will do my best to teach you whatever I can. My students must be committed to learning, prompt and dedicated to their lessons(for Jr High School and High School levels, a certain academic requirement is in place, my heart goes to those who believe in being a guitarist for a living as a sure thing, its not impossible, but highly improbable. I require a passing grade in all subjects from 7th grade to 12t, that will be in the contract you or your legal guardian will sign. In this day and age, living a real life, with real bills, and real responsibilities, making your living as a guitarist is possible, but not practical, and I won't have any of my guitar students ignoring their school studies to only playing guitar, and not paying any focus on the long term. Guitar playing is rewarding, its fun, it brings people together, builds hand eye coordination, its fun, chicks dig a guy who plays guitar, and vice versa, dudes love a gal that can play guitar, it builds self confidence, requires focus and determination, but nobody draws more attention or admiration than a guy or gal that can grab a guitar, and belt out a tune or two.
