Scott did a fantastic job. I knew my living room was dirty and loaded with dog fur although I vacuum daily. He also did the stairs & bedroom (which doesn't get traffic). He showed me my room - can't believe the dirt!! Living room - my dog has favorite spots to stretch & he doubled up on cleaning them (my dog should be bald with the amt. of fur he got out!). A couple of places, Scott wasn't satisfied and did them by hand. The machine really extracted - far better than the reg. cleaners. The carpet was dry within a couple of hours. Amazing!! He was fun to have around, too - great sense of humor and my carpeting looks new. Great job and will call Scott again ! Thanks, Scott :)

If you're looking for a dedicated cleaning service, look no further. Monica and her team went above and beyond. I payed for a deep cleaning but didn't expect that they would also shampoo the carpets on the second level of the house, clean the refrigerator and stove. There was not a speck of dust or film to be found after they left. They even watered my plants! Thank you Monica and your team for putting my life at ease by having a clean house to come home to with my busy schedule. I HIGHLY recommend Glow Cleaning Company and will be using their services again.

Very courteous and friendly. First time using this type of service, wasn't really sure what to expect. Worked hard during the entire job. Results were acceptable. Plan to use him for carpet cleaning and more tile in spring.

Able to fit us in sooner than initially available after we asked to be put on wait list. On time. Friendly technician took time to find all sources of odor and stain. Thorough cleaning. Gave all prices & options up front. Literally got down to business examining and even smelling carpet to isolate the problems. Smelled great afterwards. Be alert, significantly more expensive than other options that don't do full pet enzyme and steam cleaning and vacuuming treatment. Nothing less than the best for a house with small children.

The carpet cleaner was good and courteous. He was on time and cleaned carpets appropriately. A day after, the carpets were still wet, upon calling the company, they promptly sent a person with 2 fans and kept it overnight for no charge.

We hired Advanced System Carpet Cleaning to clean the upstairs carpeting of our condo. This is carpeting that was put in 9 1/2 years ago, had endured numerous spills, and had been peed on many times by our dog throughout the years. When the job was complete, this carpet looked as fresh as a carpet with a decade's worth of foot traffic and living could possibly look. From the day they first stopped by our house to give us an estimate until our last bit of communication with them, they were gracious and accommodating. Not only was I happy with their work, I actually gained some knowledge about carpet cleaning from them as well. They definitely know their stuff! On top of that, their pricing is completely reasonable and they exude honesty and integrity. I was very green about carpet cleaning when I started my research and was a prime potential client to take advantage of. But they were nothing but honest and trustworthy from the first conversation to the last.

John was excellent. He cleaned both carpets in our recent apartment, removing both cat urine and candle wax, while educating us on the chemistry of carpet cleaning. He told us, if the cat stain resurfaces to call him. He kept his word and cleaned it a second time at no additional charge. I definitely recommend using Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning! Amazing work and amazing customer service. I can't thank him enough!

Keith did a great job with my carpet and sofa. My sofa looks like new and the carpet looks incredible. I will say they take like a day and half to dry but that's to be expected. He was very professional and thorough. Thanks Keith!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How do you find a good carpet cleaning company?

Regular professional carpet cleaning can both extend the life of your carpet and remove harmful pollutants from your home. Finding a good carpet cleaning company is an important aspect of home maintenance. When choosing a carpet cleaner, consider these top three questions:

  • What method of carpet cleaning do you prefer? Steam cleaning is an increasingly popular method because it’s thorough and safe, and dries quickly enough for you to return to your home the same day the carpets are cleaned.
  • Have you checked the company’s references? Most cities are home to several carpet cleaning companies, so it’s a good idea to check their reviews and references. Look for references from people in your neighborhood with homes similar to yours.
  • What’s included in the base price? What other services does the carpet cleaning company offer? Some companies will move furniture for you, while others charge a fee for it. Some include stairs in the cost of the home’s cleaning, while others charge per step.

What does carpet cleaning cost?

National average carpet cleaning prices range between $100 and $130. Carpet cleaning prices depend on how many square feet of carpet you want cleaned, how many rooms in one house or building will be cleaned, how stained your carpet is, how much the carpet cleaning company charges, your ZIP code, and the type of carpet you have. Cost per square foot can range from 20 cents to $1 or more, based on the above variables. Synthetic carpets are typically the least expensive to clean; natural fibers like wool cost more, as they require more care and attention, as well as more drying time. Excessive stains, challenging locations such as stairs, and accessibility also factor into your carpet cleaning price. Companies may charge a minimum service fee for cleaning a small carpet to cover their business expenses (paying employees, transporting the special equipment to your home). If your pet has repeatedly saturated the carpet with urine or if the fibers are extremely matted down, it may make more sense to completely replace your carpet than to continue to have it cleaned.
