Our family gathered at our home in Exeter to celebrate a special birthday. The thought of taking 6 adults and a newborn baby to a restaurant was daunting, and I'm so glad I searched on Thumbtack for a personal chef. Chef Colin responded with interest very quickly, and was most helpful with suggestions and sample menus for our family dinner. The price was very reasonable, and he arrived promptly at our home as planned. Food was wonderful, and served with great presentation. We all enjoyed the complexity of flavors and variety of fresh ingredients. Chef Colin and assistant Michael fulfilled all of our expectations and more for the quality of food and humor during our meal experience! I highly recommend Chef Colin for your next event, and look forward to having him out again for the next "big birthday"!

Chef Colin was very professional throughout the whole experience. He was very quick with responding to any email or text. He also is very crafted. The special dinner he created for my family was truly amazing. The taste and presentation was as Good as any hi end restaurant. I will absolutely be using chef Colin again.

I hired chef Colin for my family and he was wonderful. He worked with me to surprise them and then provided them with an amazing meal. Every course was plated beautifully and tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend Chef Colin and plan to use him again.

Used Chef Colin for a luncheon and he was extremely professional and the food was excellent. My wife is vegan and he was able to accommodate her dietary needs as well. I would use Chef Colin again, thank you for a enjoyable experience.

Chef Colin Shea catered our Passover Seder event last week (4/5/2023). It was a last minute decision and Colin was responsive, attentive and was very easy to work with. I had specific requests and all were fulfilled. He came with 2 super lovely helpers Carrie and Rachel. Our party of 19 was very happy with the service, the food and the general interaction and attitude. There was more than enough food - plenty of leftovers for the next couple of days. All guests were very happy and the place was left spic and span. Thanks a lot for making it a great evening and letting my back relax.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Cooking classes are 135.00 for the first person and $75.00 after that, but if you have a group, the prices decrease. Meals I provide to a family of four are generally $250.00 plus the cost of groceries per week. Not too bad considering you now have time to spend with your children as they do their homework. Catering weddings and whatnot varies based on your budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Hello, when notified that you are looking for a chef, I reach out right away. That way, we may discuss specifics about your event and get you a proper quote with very little delay.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a personal library of over 200 cookbooks. I receive many periodicals and magazines about the culinary world. I stay in touch with colleagues from Johnson & Wales and I am constantly seeking new procedures and food on the internet. Keeping up with trends.
