FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
P+D is a full service, licensed and insured Architectural practice. My fees include direct involvement from schematic design to construction administration. Because all clients and all projects are different, fees are very difficult to estimate without having a conversation to clearly define the project scope. I find the best way to handle an introductory quote prior to this conversation is to bill hourly, and to include my summary of services and fee schedule as attachments. While the fees themselves are not negotiable, the scope of work is. This is a fair way for the client to get what they need within their budget, and for me to be compensated for my work and related project expenses.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a potential client identifies P+D as a good fit, I work with the client to identify the project program, scope of services needed, and project schedule. From these conversations, I prepare a detailed proposal for my services. If the client accepts the proposal, we proceed with an in-person project kick-off meeting to get big-picture ideas on paper. The next phases depend on the scope of the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Design. After a year-long stint working with/learning from a structural engineer, I returned to school to get my Masters of Architecture at the University of Michigan. I spent 8 1/2 years with Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects in New York City and San Francisco. This experience was invaluable in shaping my own architectural practice. I have additional experience with several progressive design firms, including with two of my professors from the University of Michigan. I'm also a LEED accredited professional, and am passionate about sustainable, responsible design.
